              True - However, imagine you are walking down the street in a bad neighbour hood, and you find what appears to be a bag of drugs on the floor. You dont wanna leave it for a kid to find, so you call up the police and say 'Hey, look, I'm at such and such street and I have just found what appears to be a bag of cocaine. Can you come and get it from me please?'

              You wouldn't expect to be labelled a drug dealer, if you are just doing 'the right thing' and handing it in to the police?

                                      A very commonly used lie when someone is caught in possession of a controlled substance is that he "found it on the floor and was just on his way to the cop shop to hand it in"

                                          'Caught' does not equal calling the police yourself, on your cell, and reporting it. Then staying put and waiting for them to arrive so you can hand it in...

                                          But semantics and analogies aside, and I know your asacp connection etc, but the point I'm trying to make is that if someone is doing something ' a bit naughty ' (downloading music) and they come across something unacceptable, and they choose to fess up, and hand it in...

                                          Then its a shame they dont get treated a bit better. I mean, a few more cases like this, and anyone that does see or find anything like this, is simply just going to ignore it. Why risk the hassle from the authorities, if you report it... ?

                                          I just think its a shame - We know about asacp etc, but the average Joe on the street does not. Bad move by the police imho....

                                                      I reported CP once... FBI came and interrogated me for hours and eventually took the information I was trying to pass on to them. The offending sites were all hosted in the US... Seems it took about 2 years for them to finally do something about it. I guess that is how long it takes to throw a case together.

                                                      I kept thinking to myself... Wow... Had I said the wrong thing or acted rude after they didn't stop grilling me for hours I am sure they would have taken me in and fucked with me for days to months... And the guys doing it didn't seem to even notice something was up for years?
