I have homes in Kentucky and Florida. Leading states in the "hillbilly heroin" drug mess. From Florida pain clinics where anyone can purchase the pills to Kentucky where addicts commit crime after crime to pay for them whole areas are a mess.

i really cant belive how much oxycontin is abused these days..when it first came out you had to be on your death bed to get a script...now if you sprain your ankle you on your way to the pharmy to pick up a bottle of those fuckers...really really sad.
what amazes me is ..its such a huge problem here in the usa and not one stinking politician has uttered the word "oxycontin".. dont like sounding like a conspiracy theorist..but last time there was a heroin and pill problem here in the usa we were involved in the vietnam war...now we got boots in afghanistan the worlds largetsproducer of heroin and we have a massive problem with pills and heroin again..things that make u go hmmmmmmm?Comment

You still have pill mills over there? They all closed here. The tracking database seems to have really changed things. And the DEA arresting doctors and shutting off pharmacies. They just banned a CVS location from selling scheduled drugs... they're pretty that's the first time the DEA has shut down a nationwide chain location like that.Comment

I was recently in the hospital for a surgery and they gave me a script for 20 Oxy's when I left. I actually used all but 2 or 3 of them, but then the pain started getting better and I didn't really need them. I went into the doctor about 10 days later for my followup and he asks how the pain was. I told him most days it was fine and almost non-existent, but some days it is a little worse. He wrote me a script for another 50 Oxy's. I think I have used maybe 2 of them since then and don't need them anymore. They never even batted an eye, just wrote it up and sent me on my way. Had I told him the pain was bad they likely would have given me more.Comment

Oxycodone is what is in Oxycontin. Oxycontin was a way to deliver high doses of oxycodone in what they thought was a safe way. Then people start cracking the shell that made it ER. Or melting it and shooting it.
I didn't even think Oxycontin was that big of a deal anymore. I thought everybody is doing roxy's now, which are just 15 mg (and maybe 30mg?) pure oxycodone pills.Comment

oxycodone is a miracle drug for someone who NEEDS it...I broke my leg tibia plateau region and oxycodone made life bearable with no adverse side effects. Yes it can be abused but so what is it worth it to deprive someone who really needs it in order to try to prevent someone who will get it anyway from using it...Typical government bullshit.
Im still in physical therapy over four months after the break and I still need hydrocodone a couple of times a week...usually after PT.Mike South

Not even sure why they would call this the poor man's heroin and shit (atleast around here)? Street prices here are between $60-80 for an 80mg Oxycontin when you can just go cop a dime or $20 bag of heroin that will get you much higher anyways.Comment

There was a "pain clinic" down the street from my development in a strip mall. The place was full of old cars and low-lifes milling around. There was a Dr. who would see walk-ins for $75.00 and prescribe pills on the spot. They also filled prescriptions from anywhere right there on premises.
About 2 months ago there were helicopters and sirens while SWAT raided and closed the place. But it was there for more than 2 years and a few more are also around. A couple times unmarked cars followed me (long hair, truck with Kentucky tags) until I pulled up to our resorts gate.

From what I've seen a real problem is regular honest people needing the pain relieving properties because of an injury/accident then not being able to kick them when the accident heals or their Dr stops prescribing them. Bad position to be in when your Dr gets you hooked on something then stops the supply.Comment

This pill shit is way out of control. Even good citizens are hooked on this shit and think it's normal. And who knows how many people are prescribed them and when a friend wants to buy them they don't even think of it was an illegal activity, besides all the kids raiding their grand parents medicine cabinet. before we moved our office the last one was right near a frigging clinic...the complete losers there would hang out waiting for their fix.
