How many of you guys go out and register a domain name which sounds like some other domain name?

I have the domain name smut-video.com, does this mean because someone has a movie site named "smut-videos.com" that my business should be trashed because of an "s" in the domain name?

IF he ripped the site, the entire site, replaced the headers with his own and pumped it out as his own website then i could see you all getting pissed off but to go this far because of a domain and a word added on to the end of it is bullshit.

onlymovies.com is completely different than onlymoviesite.com (or whatever the site is). Are you concerned about the type-in traffic? its kind of hard to fuckup a type-in when you need to append an entire word to a domain name.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more criticism of Pipecrew for taking this bullshit straight to the boards in the first place.

From somebody who doesn't know shit about any of it, I never heard of onlymovies.com and I could see myself innocently registering a domain that had the names "only" and "movie" in it.

There's just TOO MANY different sites out there for the average person to know of all of them off of the top of their head.

Exactly. With the amount of URLs that are used out there, there's BOUND to be guys that use similar names. Nature of the biz. It's not as "devious" as buying misspelled domains, like let's say thehunn.com or something like that. I think some people on this board are just craving conspiracy theories and love conflict.

thanks for the nice comments. The entire thing was not intentional i wuld not promote the site on GFY if i knew i was infringing on someone elses copyright.... Why would I? My sites work and I am proud of my sites.... Me and Mike sorted the issue out within minutes and the new designs and new domain name are being sorted. If people like Pipecrew would use common sense and actually contact the parties before posting on a forum then all would be sorted. As it happens it was a good thing because me and mike will be working together.... The new design and banners will be done soon...

there's about 500 people who have bought mistypes of my url , sued those that got over 1000 type ins a day and won. that one gets too little traffic to worry about....

if any real traffic or marketing would occur on that url they WILL end up in court though..............
