You know what looks super funny? I'm not sure if it's a trend in Europe or not, but in North America younger guys like to put huge spoilers and exhausts with huge tips on Japanese cars. We call them "rice cars".

Well I lived in Costa Rica for nearly 4 years. People are much poorer down there but there's still the same element of younger guys that think that look is cool. Because they can't afford the expensive after market modifications they actually make parts themselves. I've very literally seen cars with plywood whale tails and coffee cans welded on over the existing exhaust tip. Not on brand new Hondas or Toyotas either but on 20 year old Hyundais and stuff. Used to crack me up so badly.

Funny this thread should pop up though. I'm currently debating whether to buy a virtually new Ariel Atom which I found in the classifieds in the newspaper for 1,900,000 yen. The guy started off at 3,700,000 yen and over the past month he's gradually dropped his price. Don't know many foreigners here who have 19,000 yen to spare, let alone 1,900,000. I figure that's the reason for his constantly dropping the price... not being able to find a buyer, rather than something being wrong with the car. He is totally advertising is in the wrong places. Fool. It's not that much money, but I put in a major lowball offer for 500,000 yen and I plan to install a cheap police radar scanner then resell it to a Jap with cash, just waiting on a reply. It's also good for me since I'm only using 2 of my 5 parking spaces (fucking bureaucratic Jap bastards). Hopefully I WILL blast it out at nearly new price to some rich Jap. Either I'm the luckiest fucker on the planet right about now, or I'm fixing to drop the lifetime salary of a Burmese hooker on a complete lemon.

My reason for not buying the car really has little to do with them being gull-wing doors. When they're on a Lamborghini, and the car was designed to have them... the door hinges will have the structural integrity needed to make sure your doors won't fall off in 3 years when they've been opened and closed a ton of times.

Let me tell you what I've learned about aftermarket shit; Nothing lasts very long. I would not be surprised at all if the janky-ass hinges cause the doors to fall off sometime in the near future.

they WILL...its not a matter of its its a matter of WHEN. I've worked in a shop for a few years and these things are not made all that well and do not last long on daily driven vehicles.
