                                    One reason why doors still have 2 hinges and a lock is that they are simple. They add little weight to the car, are easy to fix, and easy to open. The sliding-under-car door might be impossible to open if the battery, motor or other mechanics of it failed. Exactly what problem is this kind of door supposed to fix anyway?

                                              One major thing they will need to figure out... it sounds simple, but this will be a big barrier... if the front and back person are not both getting out of the vehicle, the back person is not going to want to be exposed to the elements. It might be raining, snowing, etc. Rain would be a disaster.
