I started a clips4sale store..

The guy that works for clips4sale... think he still does... had an set around me. He used to shoot balloon popping...

They would wear makup with rosy cheeks and just film them bouncing on balloons till they popped. I think the "niche" is the "waiting" for the balloon to POP.

First of all you should browse the categories and see if there's anything you either find hot yourself (most easy to shoot). If there's nothing you personally like you should try to understand the different fetishes - you won't get all of them if you're not into it, but for some this will work ...

Save yourself some money by not shooting stuff you don't like/understand - 99% of the time the customers will instantly notice and don't buy your stuff (or you've one-time customers only at best) ... you just won't be able to shoot it in the right angles / write appealing descriptions / etc.

I've shot a shit-ton of gay content over the course of many many years and sold thousands of memberships... and maintained a very consistent business shooting content for major gay websites. The differentiating factor is "are you a photographer that gives a shit?" Not "are you a fan of the niche?"

Any photographer who knows anything about lighting and composition can shoot any niche if they know what the niche is about, and be very very successful.

Now, whether they WANT to do it... that's another factor entirely.

One of the reasons I've never shot gay is that I'm not gay. I just don't know how I'd be able to look at a scene or a clip and say, "That's awesome"..

I actually am a photographer by trade. And I have a shit ton of stuff that's already been shot. I'm just not sure if it's what people on the site will be looking for. It's pretty tame by the standards of the other stuff I'm seeing on there.

Well, you at least seem to understand gay porn then - which qualifies you to shoot it (although maybe a GAY photographer with the same skills and knowledge COULD shoot better content) and which kind of prooved my point ... as I said you either get off on the stuff yourself OR you understand it ...

Trust me, I've tried out various photographers and producers to produce micro niche content, all over the world, in house, etc. - only a very small % got it right. It's not about lighting or great photography - it's about understanding the niches, focus on the right details, shoot the right angles, noticing when the model isn't doing something right, etc.

To pick up the gay porn example - it's still porn. I don't know anything about it, but I'd assume it's not that MUCH different than straight porn ... now imagine you'd shoot a scene where a model crushes balloons like someone mentioned above - that has nothing to do with porn and only very few people would know how to shoot it - correct? (And that isn't even one of the "weirder" fetishes ...)

I've seen a ton of new producers on our own video sites and on sites like clips4sale that went online and disappeared a few weeks/months later - simply because they didn't earn what they expected to earn. On the other hand I've seen girls shooting their own crappy videos (quality wise), weren't "good" looking but got the niche 100% and earned a lot of cash over the time ...

Again, no pun intended, maybe you're one of the 1% that would be able to do it right

I have a few suggestions.

Handjobs are easy to shoot (pov) and sell very well on clips4sale.

Keep the clips around 5 minutes each, they usually sell better that way.

Natural light is always best, if possible try and shoot day time close to a window.

Ignore all the posts about Looner vids (Balloon popping etc.) I'm soon launching a Looner website less competition is better for me....lol

DO you direct your shootings? DO you say what position to do, what to say, what rhythm should be taken?

You might have reason, you can do it acceptably if you know the common canons of that niche. But I doubt the production will be opera prima, if you don't like it.
