I noticed quite a few pages which had copied exactly the text from a fairly high ranked page site I have, and constructed it in the form of a link to my site

They then combined this with a good number of other similarly copied pages, assembling it all in one page of course with their sponsors consoles etc

Loosely the webmaster who made this page, might claim he was just linking to your site, however with the exact text from all of the links and text on your page combined into one long run on sentence, it's pretty clear that this is not a description of your fine site, rather an attempt to steal s/e traffic

If they're doing what I think you're saying, then they use this method to steal trademark traffic a lot. They have a page with a popular trademark all over it, 75 banners and text links to sponsors, and a small link to your site somewhere on the page. Then, when you contact them to complain, they say that they are just a search engine or link list, not some Google spammer stealing traffic.

seen quitea few people doing the same thing... just report them
