No, there is NOT a longer sentence for animal cruelty than for the rape of a child. As a matter of fact in a lot of places if convicted of child abuse it is damned near a death sentence. Homie don't play that shit in the pen and once that charge is found out by the population... well 5 to 10 could turn into a cold hole in the ground.

What this guy allegedly did is horrendous and while I respect you trying to help her the thing that needs to be done is getting evidence so that the police and other law enforcement agencies can act. They already told her there is not enough evidence so if they require more...find it and pray the statute of limitations has not run out on the things you can prove.

no, I only became aware of the situation LAST NIGHT. People do not understand what sexual trauma, particularly in childhood, does to a person. Survivors tend to be re-victimized again and again and again, lowering their self-esteem, sense of safety, ability to trust....at least that's how it is with me. And my friend sounds the exact same way (considering her abuse began at age 6, that's no surprise).

And while I'm on the subject.....my best friend now lives in Podunk Arkansas and works as a Therapeutic Foster Parent. She is currently trying to adopt the 5 year old girl she's fostering. The child, Destiny, now age 5, was raped repeatedly by stepfather #1 and stepfather #2. Weirder still, both of them shit on her face and/or chest when they were done with her, making it sound like some ritualistic abuse type thing. A couple of evangelical christians are also trying to adopt her, even though the one time they had her on a visit, they returned her to my friend after only 2 hours, because she is so out of control they couldn't handle her. This couple has 3 sons...SICK shit happens to kids (and adults) all the time. Oh....and despite physical evidence of rape on the girl as well as her verbal testimony, these rapists are not being prosecuted.

Yes, it's ugly to think about. Yes, it's difficult for decent people to even imagine these types of atrocities. But denial only adds to the silence and the problem! These types of things happen every single day, in AMERICA too. It doesn't matter if you believe what my friend told me or not. Tell me how I can fight this problem.

I drive through there constantly and even make sure I dont speed because cops there pull you over for going 5 miles over so this thread seems odd to me to say least... if children are involved, i think investigation is mandatory, so this all just seems odd. Try at least reading the first post again where he said the children only came forward about the molestation recently, not in 2003. Geez, the guy comes here looking for some advice after hearing a dramatic story from a friend and all you do is get ultra defensive because it supposedly happened in your backyard and you can't imagine something like that happening around where you live. The most obvious reason why the police were probably reluctant to open an investigation was because it happened 9 years ago and the accuser no longer lives in the area.

2. what evidence do they have to the sexual assault on the children?
3. You would need more than one child to come fwd, and still unfortunately it is not much evidence, (for the courts)
4. If they didn't file domestic charges when she was in the ER, that is past.

I only see 2 things you can do.
If she does know where his "stash" is, which why has he not found another hiding place in 10 years, and didn't he Move? The Local drug people will Love that info.

You can have Everyone involved write a statement and send it to CPS, to keep an eye on his current situation.
