Mini DV tapes NO MORE? - GoFuckYourself.com

With my warranty through Best Buy's black tie protection, I was able to upgrade my Sony HDR-HC1 to a new cam corder, but they NO longer sell camcorders that use mini dv tapes. So all the home videos I have captured over the past 6 years are trapped on tape. I called around, but video places want to charge $20.00 - $27.00 per tape to transfer onto DVD.

I'm looking to borrow, rent or purchase an inexpensive HDV camcorder, or Sony HDV deck that uses mini dv tapes so I can transfer my home videos onto my Hard drive.

Even if the HD Camera no longer records, but I can still view the video to transfer, that would be great.

Help a brotha out

Find a low cost Firewire MiniDV deck on eBay.

That's what I was thinking. Hit Ebay and find an old camera. I still have two mini dv cameras, and also an even older one for older video tapes.

Surely craigslist, ebay and amazon would have them. Or any pawn shop in Chicago

at least for a cpl of hundred quid, you would have a decent camera still.... I love my xm2 bought new for £2k!

I just sold my HDRHC5 for a few hundred bucks. I sat on it forever.

I had checked Craigslist and ebay already, but asking to much for used, but rechecking again. I found one and it's on it's way. Thank you

Yep we were surprised recently to find out that all of the new camcorders are coming out with sd cards and no need for mini dv, or mini HD DV tapes anymore....guess we will be upgrading our equipment to sd video cameras
