    Europeans / Americans

    When the dollar was in trouble, the housing market in trouble and the US economy in trouble, there was no shortage of Europeans and Canadians talking shit about the USA, debt, the fall of an empire etc etc etc etc. - was a daily thing for quite a while

    So here we are, Euro is in trouble and failing and the EU is in trouble and how many Americans posting about it day in and day out or openly hoping the Euro or EU fails?

    None...

    Just something to think about.

                  I think debt is a problem when people spend more money than they have. They could think about decreasing expenses and spending less money. They could think about buying something cheaper. Of course, it's hard to control spending sometimes. They just want to buy, buy and buy with credit cards and other loans.

                                                              Some Americans have a feeling that what happens outside the US isn't of their concern, unless it warrants sending troops, then they discover new places on the map. They don't see the problems the Euro has as effecting them.

                                                              As for the Euro, here's a comment from a leading UK financier. "These people can hardly decide what to have for lunch. So thinking they could manage a currency was absurd." Or words to that effect and he's been proved right. Even when facing the Abyss of melt down every one is looking out for his own concern.

This is another odd thing about others perceptions of the US. The US is largely a multicultural country of immigrants... from all over the world. I am not talking about the founding of the nation, I am talking about the continued non-stop immigration as well. So in calling Americans ignorant, you are really attacking countless cultures and countries as being ignorant.

                                                                                                  What I always find amusing is that Europeans have an image of what/who Americans are which is largely shaped by what they see on TV and in the news. At the same time those people are talking about how all news is propaganda, can't be trusted and how everyone is brainwashed by the media,... Yet, they will quickly accept any news bite that shows an inbred hillbilly commenting on Palestine/Isreal as being a fair representation of a nation of 300,000,000 people... yet, if you were to walk around any major city, you would be very hard pressed to find a white person to talk to at all, for such a sound bite. They would most likely be Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Pakistani, Indian, Mexican, European, from South America etc etc etc.

I certainly don't think the US should have a military budget that exceeds that of the next 15 or so largest economies combined.

                                                                                                                                                  Of course the Dollar is still in trouble and the economy is still floundering (in spite of having Black Jesus, Lord and Savior and Eternal Shining Beacon of Light and Truth in the White House). The EURO and most other major currencies and economies are also in dire trouble. The dollar was simply the first to tumble in the chain of dominoes largely because of the housing collapse and the total collapse of mortgage backed securities (much of which was also owned by European banks and institutions as well because no one cared what they are buying as long as its making money). All major currencies and markets are inextricably interlinked in today's world... when one flounders, its of direct concern to all.

                                                                                                                                                      AID is not really aid its more of a bribe so that corporate interests are met. The money is not free, its not like its red cross stuff or anything. It's cloak and dagger stuff like "USAID" paying for a road from shithole X in my country to shithole Y, at first glance it looks like a humanitarian project but in reality the road lies in the region of a local politicians road building company and his political party lobbied for concessions for US corporations. The local politician gets fat pockets from the "AID" the US corporations get a cloak and dagger deal because of the bribe and everybody but the people are happy.

                                                                                                                                                      It's a crying shame that so much US taxpayers money is spent on the personal interests of a few corporations.

                                                                                                                                                                  The rise of stations such as Fox news and Murdoch media and their control of information and that they are prepared to lie.

                                                                                                                                                                  In Europe there are state media like the BBC which has better quality news.

                                                                                                                                                                  When Horizon the BBC science program became a co production with Discovery the IQ dropped 40 points.

                                                                                                                                                                  Lack of good newspapers in the US.

                                                                                                                                                                  Lack of news coverage of events outside of the US.

                                                                                                                                                                  Poor schooling for the poor.

All are designed to cater to their base with views and opinions and stories and viewpoints that are going to be well received by their base.
