Free porn is killing the Internet = I can't sell it.

If free porn is killing the Internet? Well is seems it's a great excuse for those who need one.

The rest of us seem to be using it as a tool.

http://blogs.zdnet.com/ITFacts/index.php?p=12322

"AVN estimates US adult products market to generate $12.922 bln in 2006. Adult movies remain the largest sector at more than $3.6 bln or 28% of the adult entertainment market. Falling prices for adult DVDs caused a drop of 15% in revenue in that segment, but unit sales were up, indicating a continuing market for adult films. Distribution over cable channels showed the strongest growth in 2006 at 34%. AVN estimates the Adult Cable/PayPerView segment (home and hotel TV movies) now represents $1.75 bln in revenue, annually. [{b]Internet sales of adult content, which includes images, live-chat and live-streaming video, was also a strong growth area. In fact, AVN reports that in 2006, Internet Sales became the second largest adult entertainment segment, with 22% of the market or $2.8 bln in sales.[/b]"

"Also a strong growth area."

There is no money with online porn.

I wonder how they got those numbers.

Fact checking reveals most porn companies are privately held and don't publish information about revenue.

Vivid produces 60 films per year and its annual revenue is $100 million USD.

Who's controlling the rest of all the "billions" ?

You'd probably have an easier time selling it if the join links worked.

This thread must be a hoax created by a GFY Admin and backdated to 2007 because in 2011 Paul insists he has been saying for years that giving away free porn on the Internet was a bad idea.

I refuse to believe somebody as on top of their game as Paul is would contradict himself!

Bullshit.

The only similarity is that neither were well received initially.

TGP's proved to be useful however, (illegal) tubes and file sharing forums not so much.

I would have though the bandwidth providers can more than cope with the demands now. I rember reading an article about running out of IP adddress a few years ago, they found a solution that, they will find a solution to the bandwidh growth too

Site rips are used for the offline business, re-encoded and burned on separate DVD's then sold in third world countries to people and kids who have no Internet access. Most of them would even jerk off to a tranny, because they have no porn preference or whatsoever.

However, those with Internet access, get bored with most of the professional porn. When I say "most", I mean that they have their favorite girls whose videos they look up on tubes. But there are real fans though, some buy memberships on their solo site.

Regular user will never, ever download a site rip. They're interested in short videos, like 5-10 minutes max. So you can't say that your signups are low because of that.

You just need a good business model, if the girl is pretty - you can pretty much make somewhat of a blog, with free galleries and videos up to like 10 minutes. But if they like the girl, they will buy the DVD compilations, some accessories, cam 2 cam, or whatsoever. Small shit gets sold, and by displaying some of the content to guests, you can display advertisements as well. So money will come either way.

How exactly were TGP's useful, because YOU figured out how to make money with them?

In your TGP days I was making mid 5 figures a week and 90% of my pages didn't even have nudity. TGP was the same thing, free porn + sell ads + laugh to the bank while those listed brag about their 1:1000 conversions because they got 4 in a day. Never mind it took 350,000 hits to the page to get 4:000 clicks (I got 1 per 2 or 3 clicks to the page)

I think they were useful to most. Shit, I was pulling down 500 sales a day with them.

How much money you think tube sites are pulling down? They just aren't sharing with you.

You're a complete fucking moron who today, is a failure and any advice you offer beyond how to use a light meter or get a paid whore to flash a smile across her face for the 2.3 nanoseconds that she can muster up the strength to tolerate you and your creepy personality as she tries to make a little cash, is almost always completely wrong.

Well, everything is relative, now isn't it? What one person considers "dandy" (500+ sales in a day) another would consider unrealistic given his online presence and, therefore, 50 sales a day would be "dandy".

I've had a few (nowhere near enough, grrrr!) 100+ sales days. But I am running 32 (count 'em!) paysites so, again, it's all relative. Is that "dandy"? I don't know. For a single person, like myself, with some outsourced help, it's very fucking dandy, thank you very much.

Now: let's compare PROFIT MARGINS. Do you take home more than xxx.xxx a year? If so, congrats. But how long have YOU been in the biz? 3 years, like me?

Again, all relative.

My point to you was that you have no idea what is dandy if you've been here 3 years. You can grow every year, which is great, but Robbie watched sales increase for almost a decade but drop for the last several years. The industry is definitely suffering, paysites specifically so while you're accomplishments are great they in no way speak for the industry as a whole.

Congrats btw, it's nothing against you or your business but I was here before the bottom fell out and know exactly what he means.

If your sites were 3 years old in 2005-2007 you would probably have been seeing 200-500 joins per day. That is the key.

Oh I agree totally! Which is probably why I'm sensitive about ANY "success" given this climate at all. LOL I know, with my work ethic, etc, that if I had started even three years before I did I'd be like Shap (outta here).

So you're right, and so am I: it's all relative. The problem comes when shifting expectations is so hard. Let's say Robbie was making 1 mil a year at the height of his affiliate work five years or so ago. If he's making 1/10 that now then, yes, it must feel like NO sales. LOL But still, $100,000 a year ain't bad (unless you live in Vegas). But shifting down a gear or two is what so many are finding it hard to do.

So, in that sense, I'm HAPPY I started late. Because any success I may have had ten years ago will remain forever fantasy. The reality is I can grow a wee bit more and we can all meet somewhere in the middle some day. LOL

Do you want a cookie?

You remind me of one of those ghouls who shows up at someone's deathbed and then proceeds to loudly inform everyone in the room that the patient will soon be dead and there's nothing anyone can do to change that.

If you've got nothing better to bring to the table, perhaps your time would be better spent elsewhere
