"Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed announced his resignation in a nationally televised address Tuesday in Male, Maldives. Mr. Nasheed resigned after what government officials described as a coup by police officers and opposition figures linked to a former president."

I read about this first thing this morning. This is the president who held a meeting under water to bring attention to their country's issue with rising water - With the sea rising, the entire nation will disappear. Sucks to be them.
