I like 50 Cent a lot, but I doubt he'll be another 2Pac. Most of his appeal, in my opinion is Dr. Dre and Eminem influenced. Without Dre it's just a bunch of gibberish...

But he's still very good by today's standards. He'll continue to blow up until he does something too stupid to recover from, or if he gets set up that way.

If you like his new cuts then check this out. I asked Digital Underground and the Luniz to perform new shit to 50 Cents Wanksta and In The Club beats.

http://www.d-moneyshow.com/videos/20...0centremix.ram

http://www.d-moneyshow.com/videos/20...entremix56.ram (for phone connections)

I thought they pulled it off very well.

Enjoy the clips, let me know what you think of their version.

50 Cent is a VERY TALENTED RAPPER

I've been listening to him on the mixtapes, very hot songs.
He's the type of rap artist that puts the bubble gum rap/pop guys like Nelly and Ja Rule (the cookie monster) to shame.

This guys video is staying in heavy rotation on MTV without resorting to duets and "catchy jingles"

I don't see why everyone likes him so much. I do listen to alot of rap and few different people told me to get his cd cause "its so hot". I got it and i think its complete shit. His beats suck, his flow sucks, he sucks.

No doubt. It's nice to hear hardcore rappers in rotation again. They're like a GFY chat board gone rap. They call threads, songs.

LOL right, trackmasters are responsible for just about as many hits production wise as Dre in the past 5 years. His album would have been incredible with them... The one and ONLY reason he's getting mainstream recognition is because you can attach Eminems name to it and 35 year old businessmen down to 8 year old black girls will give him a chance... 50 cent has been the hottest thing for the past 4 or 5 years

I'm not really a hardcore fan but this dude ,unlike 95% of rap music, is REAL...I hate seeing people, evident in this thread, who jump on the bandwagon...

They thought they sucked after they did it, I thought it was good. It wasn't 50 Cent obviously, different style.

50 Cent is way bigger onthe East Coast and has been for years. The mix tapes are in full force in NY, that makes him a legend already in those parts. But for West Coasters, he's a new thing still and that's where the bandwagoners are probably coming from.

I also contribute his voice change to his success.. He can barely move his top jaw after having half his face blown off so it made his speeched slurred and gritty... His old stuff is hi-pitched and quick paced... It wouldnt be taking him where he's going now

"how to rob",that put him on the map so to speak

As far as I care, 50 cent sucks. His albums were very disappointing. All I liked was that track he did, Skemes of robbing an industry nigga. That was funny as hell and a good track but the rest never really interested me... same ol same ol

He's not even close to 2pacs level. 2pac rocked because he lived his lyrics. The guy shot 2 cops and WALKED, how many wanna be gangstas talk the talk and walk the walk? That's right, nobody. It's all studio gangsters nowadays...

his album isnt bad considering its his first real release into mainstream america. i like his bootlegged albums a lot though. as long as he got dre making his beats and he stays in the eminem shadow he will be successful

we'll just have to wait a couple months to see if he's still got skills.

If you can top your first album, then you can be on your way to be close to 2pac or right in there.

you know what i mean?

The part about studio gangsta's is pretty accurate. Just listen to Suge Knight go off about Snoop, Dre and the rest of them. I think in Snoop's case, he started off normal and then later in life hooked up with gangsta's once he achieved his rap fame. 2Pac lived it and rapped about it, he was real.

Now Too Short has always been rapping about sex and never sold out to the mainstream. He stuck with one style and keeps it in tact today. It seems like rappers either rap about sex, gangsters, money or how good they are at rapping. The 4 food groups of rap I guess.

Just thought I'd hook a Too short plug while makin' an observation.

To me... it's all about his beats. He wasn't makin' no noise above ground 'til he found Dre, or... Dre found him.

2Pac came up with Digital Underground.

Props to Money B and Shock G for their discovery of Pac. That's pretty amazing to have a dancer in your group start rappin' one and turn into 2Pac. If you get to know Money B and get into a conversation about 2Pac, it's pretty fascinating. I asked MoneyB what Pac sounded like the first time Pac rapped for him. He said he was already the polished 2Pac as we know. Crazy stuff.

http://www.sexandthestudio.com is the new xrated project for those guys, they have a program. If anyone wants to do some deals with them feel free to contact me and I'll be sure to put you in touch. Great stuff.

Good idea with the Knumskull on the 50 track D-Money. The west coast needs more thinking along those lines. You got an inner A&R man hiding inside you waiting to come out! haha If you want to put it to use holla at me.

On the 50 Cent issue, I gotta say this kid is the most authentic gangsta-ish rapper to come out of NY since the Wu-Tang (who are all old grimy characters for real)

50 was known as one of the wildest and craziest young hustlers in Queens. Even before all of this rap stuff taking flight, If you were to ask any street cat in Brooklyn or Queens about him they would have heard something and had a wild story to tell. Always something along th lines of '50 would just wild out and carry his gun into the middle of the street and just point it at cats.'

Is this street craziness a good thing??? No, it never is, but at least there is one rapper with a hot album that actually has a reason for the wild rhymes he puts out. Even Pac, as much as I respect and like that guy, wan't a real gangsta.

Is this street craziness a good thing??? No, it never is, but at least there is one rapper with a hot album that actually has a reason for the wild rhymes he puts out. Even Pac, as much as I respect and like that guy, wan't a real gangsta.
LOL, let's put that little A&R guy inside me to use. I've always had a passion for the music industry. One day...

i wasnt feeling him a whole lot when he had that bootleg album except the songs 'how to rob' and 'life on the line'. i dont think 50 cent is anything close to a studio gangster like someone previously said though (not that it matters). he is one of the few rappers that isnt. he wa shot 9 times and was just arrested for gun posession about a month ago. i also read a long time ago that he whooped ja rules ass and stole his chain and mailed it back to him. thats pretter gangster if you ask me. i also read that he used to be a boxer a while back. i like his new album minus 3 or 4 tracks. i saw him on jimmy kimmel and his stage performance wasnt all that great but he has his release show in detroit here this week so ill see if he does any better doing more songs.

so you have to be a criminal to be respected as a rapper?

This is why hip hop is so looked down upon sometimes.

He's ok. Flow is pretty godo but the stuff behind him by dre and eminem is pretty lacking. I hear eminem is doing drum programming now so perhaps thats why.

I just don't get him.

I dig Eminem, I am a big hip-hop fan. 50 doesn't do it for me though.

That Eminem track, "The Invasion" is fucking killer though--search for that...it's non-album, hit the mix tape scene about 2 months ago.

"try to put me in a position to pickle me--y'all tickle me pink, I think I'd rather have Pink tickle me."

fucker is genius--freestyled or not, his flow and mix of words is tough to rival.

that aside, "8 Mile" is in my top 3 films of 2002--if for the end battles alone. Shit was like Rocky with rapping.

I would have to agree. This whole ganster thing is getting way out of hand. Whatever happened to the days of De La Soul and feeling good about rapping? Or Run DMC standing around telling everybody how good they are? Those were the days.

And the funny thing is, most people listening to these gangsters are middle class youth with nothing better to do than pretend they're not middle class youth.

I guess all thats left to say is EASTSIDE MUTHERFUCKERS!

It seems like that from the outside but the funny thing is the biggest selling rappers are always the guys who are the least likely to shoot someone in their crew. 2Pac had gangster friends but he wasn't actually a gangster, he only shot someone in self defense. Snoop - same thing except he never shot anyone ever. Eminem - nuff said. Nelly - Haha. Jay Z wasn't a gunman (his Rockafella partner Biggs is) Nas - naaaah! Ja Rule- you should be smacked for even imagining this kid is rough.

It's all about the element of danger as added 'flavor' for the big sellers while the truly gangster guys rarely ever sell diddly. Look at the Lox, they barely go gold. The Wu, only the softest dude sells platinum (Method Man) while Ghost and Raekwon pray for gold.

This is why most of the big time rap stars from NY are almost all being extorted by REAL gangsters daily!

It's a little different for southern rappers compared to the lying east and west. Baby, Master P, 3-6 Mafia. They are definitely a motley crew of real gangsters.

In real life real bigtime gangsters rarely call themselves gangsters. I know quite a few real gangsters in and out of the record business and none of them rap. Actually, very few of them are black. How do ya like them apples?
