Photoshop gurus, a question for you (text on a path)

Is there a way to get true text-on-a-path in Photoshop? I know Photoshop includes the text warp feature, now, but it distorts the text and is limited to the presets. Is there a way to make text conform to an arbitrary path? I have no problems doing this in Paint Shop Pro, but I hate to have to mix-and-match for something that should be pretty simple.

Maybe it's a plugin? I've been all over the web and I can't find anything to tell me how to do what I want. I think I saw this feature in another Adobce product but I'd rather not give them any more of my money just for a simple text effect.

If you can help, please post the info here. I appreciate it.

Use Illustrator and then copy-and-paste. The only true way to make it work.

Illustrator is the best imho though Freehand or Typestyler will do too.

Wow, Xara. I remember when Xara was just a quicky 3D-text program YEARS ago. It had one simple canvas, you typed in some text and Xara made it rotate. Looks like they've come a long way since then. The thing is, I wanted to be able to do it inside of Photoshop. If I am going to have to use two seperate programs, I guess I'll just stick with Paint Shop Pro since I already own that.

Yeah, Xara still does the Xara3D stuff, but this program is XaraX... it's really good for text paths, and has some clean/nice lines. Check it out if you have some time. It's pretty easy to do.

I'm playing around with it, right now. It's pretty cool but the price is a bit steep for what it does.
