FYI , the Marriott was also out of rooms for the date, so the Hyatt is it for back-up plans. We will make it into the venue, though... I'm optimistic!

I bet most people booked two or more rooms, then will decide last minute to ditch them because they can't get someone to overpay.

This happened before at some mainstream event I was at, I got a room at the hotel the conference was at the night before

Yes, just needed a blood draw for a food allergy test. Phlebotomist had to stick me 3 times trying to get 4 vials. Double sad morning. LOL.
