The problem is it has taken more traffic month on month to achieve the same number of sign ups, with a few exceptions. While new people were coming online in places which were likely to buy it was fine. Because the growth made up and more for the drop of sales per 1,000. Today that growth in online connections in the Western World has slowed down. Then there are Tubes and piracy to take into the equation.

So yes you can still get sales if you have enough traffic, but that is one man's gain and another man's loss. Often the man gaining is doing so by giving away more free porn which in turn means a lowering of the sales per 1,000.

Now a few sites who started out on the right route can withstand this trend, like Met Art, they started with a very good standard and got better. They can afford to add great new content that beats others and keep members. The rest even in the golden days of easy money either couldn't or wouldn't compete with offline porn to get the best.

It's no secret we could earn $3,000 from a single set, minimum on a Readers Wives" set like these ones was $300 from magazines only. Sometimes a set would sell for $1,000 because an editor thought the girl was super hot. Then we got to keep the set and sell it out on the stores.

The money on a BG or GG set was higher, if shot right.

This isn't just me, it's the same for most offline shooters of any good and lets face it according to most here I'm crap. :1orglaugh

Now then which site or program could compete with these prices and which one did? Then think of 2-5 sets or videos a day as updates. This is what most sites face. So the members realised if they stayed a member, they would get a little bit of new stuff every day, much like what they had seen for a month or two and a better way was to move on and for $30 get access to a brand new site full of new content.

Or for the wary, compile a list of their favorite sites, stay a month or two, see all the new stuff and then move onto the next in their list. And go around until the end of the list, then back to the start. Yes a few members stayed on, but who has an average of more than 3 months in a mainstream niche?

As you predict there's little that will turn it around. It's too late. :( :(

Aden I'm not having a dig at you, rather the business today. When was the last time you were paid $3,000 to shoot a solo girl set? Yes today the market is gutted. 5 years ago that was normal. Selling a set from the stores 10 times at $300 was normal and low, then add the video, then see signature. Few paysites could compete with that level of costs.

Now days, ( it seems ) X Hamster alone is larger than all combined.

In Vegas, guys were showing me reports of member area traffic converting at 1-8, recurrings still at 3 to 1 vs initials. sites converting 1-200 off tubes.

These are awesome days for paysites. It's just a different world now days. I don't think we're seeing programs and sites going down as rapidly as we have the last couple of years. Things seem to have stabilized for a lot of people.

Vegas was a damn good show. My first in 8 or so years. Things are looking up for the ones that changed.

I guess what you are saying and what I also seem to see is that most paysites are not buying new content anymore or adding new sites that are updated. My best current recurring prog recurs at about 2 months on ave for all signups. That is not real good.

Yes I have some old progs that boiled down to maybe 2-3 remaining members who recur a bit longer. But they are the exception and it took a few years of sending traffic to end up with a couple "golden members".

Last of the month and first of the month are usually alright but mid month tends to suck which tells me that many people are just tapped out on the ole budget.

I think if people have money they will always buy porn, tho they are more picky. But give em something with some value (and not only say 200 vids) and they will still buy.

The trouble is there are few paysites with real perceived value compared to what is available free.

The people you work with who are buying non-exclusive content is why they are doing worse. People need to use good exclusive content these days if they think they'll have a chance. There are few exceptions to this rule.

I keep one account JUST for friends and fam / recreation and one account for biz, works better that way for me at least.

Members area traffic is a diff ballgame tho than converting raw traffic.

I also find that once you have a member they can recur so it would seem that members might indeed be upselling.

I guess what you are also saying (and seen) is as long as you have a tube with big traffic you will generate sales and those will then upsell.

But Mr Markham is still fundamentally right as tubes are still leveraging traffic to reap a few remaining members.

Did they tell you what traffic (impressions) is needed to generate a certain number of clicks (ctr) to then generate a certain signup ratio?

Sure once you have a member all is fine but getting members.. is that easier or converting better on x traffic than 5 years ago.

Tubes are simply leveraging traffic. Ratios are sky high but as long as you have tons of traffic sure certain ones will always buy.

It's not just exclusive with non-exclusive content...
let's take solo sites as example.
A few years ago, you could have a nice looking girl, take 100 sets of her and make mad money.
Those days, you need much hotter girl, more quality content, non stop interaction with members, cam- shows and the list go on. And on the and , you won't make as much as before with just 100 bought sets.
