Nothing says, "Hi, neighbor," like suing them!

I had to do the same thing with a neighbor. Their mutt dog tried to eat my award winning dog. So not only did I sue for the injuries costs, I also sued for the fact that my dog can no longer be a show dog and the fact that nobody is going to want to breed their beauty with my scarred up, three legged dog...

We won damages of $2700 or so and then another $1050 for the 1st of the litters we were not going to be getting going forward. Previously the dog gave us 3 first of the litters that sold for $350 each.

Then...

I got sued by another neighbor when my dog bit his dog. I was very nice and offered to just pay him the cash... no need for insurance... But he was a douche... Oh well, that is what the insurance is for. They paid him and charged me $250 deductible and my rate went up $56 a year and will remain that way for about 5 years according to the agent. I still made out like a bandit on that one!

I have an asshole neighbor who is always bothering me about stupid shit.

Last year when a couple of kids were carrying her flat screen tv and a firesafe full of cash out the back door of her house and throwing it over the fence, I had a chuckle because I couldn't seem to find my phone to call 9-1-1...it was probably under those weeds on the property line.

georgeyw 01-26-2012 04:32 PM

Why would you want to sue your neighbour?

It makes no sense at all. Sue your neighbour and create some tension in your own street - GREAT IDEA!

What makes you think we are neighbors or live on the same street? What would you do? Chalk it up if they lived on the same street as you?

LeRoy 01-26-2012 04:49 PM

Damn that's a lot of bills :(

I have insurance for my dog and it's well worth it. I saved a few gouges from the vet :thumbsup

Hope it turns out ok

Thought I had read it was your neighbour - how about this 'person who lives not too far from your house and you walk by regularly'. Who really cares.

I would talk to the person first, try to work out a resolution amicably. If that did not work then I would simply avoid the place. Suing would not ever enter my mind. Seems like a completely idiotic response.

I tried working it out at the time and again before court. Not sure why I should suddenly avoid a street I have used since 1985 because a dick lives there.

Any news on how this turned out? Did you win Baddog?

The judge took it under submission. I think it helped that my witness (Animal Control) testified that the guy lied on his report. Technically, that should make everything he said not worth :2 cents:

So then the judge will take some time to review it and let you know what his ruling is?

Or he already made up his mind but did not want to announce it in court. He did not give rulings on the prior cases either. Hard to say.

Phoenix 01-26-2012 06:53 PM

once some tourists were up north and their two stupid dogs attacked me and my sister all summer...little nips and bites on the way by, so we had to run for it.
then they made the mistake of following her home one day, and nipping her in front of our house...anyway, these tourists wanted to sue, and wanted to have our dog put down because she had attacked them and caused damage.
meanwhile my sister has blood on her leg from their dogs..lol
game warden told them he was coming back to dispose of their dogs for attacking a human....they ended their trip early and went home

damn tourists

Fixed. :thumbsup

I'm anxious to hear the decision. I hate the ideology of the whole CA system, but I'm hoping this one goes your way.

baddog 01-27-2012 12:37 PM

Defendant found to be 80% at fault. Now, to try and collect.

What money amount was awarded...80% of all monies you had listed or 80% of the vet bills?

pornguy 01-27-2012 02:57 PM

If your dog was leashed at the time and the other was not, you might have a chance of winning. But I think in this case the judge is going to toss it out as irresponsible dog owners.

You have blog for your dog where you write for him in third person?
Serious man?

No, he dictates it to his secretary. The lack of opposable thumbs prevents him from doing it himself.

scottybuzz 02-12-2012 03:10 AM

cool dog - nice that he is a rescue dog.

The only thing I find disturbing is that you can't figure out why one might do that. I suggest you start thinking outside the box if you plan on making marketing your livelihood. :2 cents:

So your point is you're marketing your dog? How many people do you market to - me, myself and I ?
I guess you have way too much time on your hands to write your dog's blog. How about blog about your shoes. Not just about shoes, but from prospective of being one. Like "Today I was walking on the beach, and sand was inside of me. How nasty. I wish' I wasn't stinky adidas shoe, but glamorous gucci high heel".
Thank me later, marketing guru.

Last year Purina was looking for someone to travel around the US with their dog, and documenting their travels. Unfortunately I was on the road when the alert came, so I applied late and they had filled it by the time I responded.

You think Buddy and I qualified?

That would have been much better idea than having "him" telling the story about medical bills and small claims court.

So you don't think there is any point in showing a pattern, that perhaps this was something that we could do with ease?

Oh well, guess I will never be as smart as you.

What pattern would that be ? Like this one. Thanks for sharing buddy. Whats the demographics of the audience besides you and your girlfriend?

Wow! What a beautiful morning. The sun is shining and it is actually warm at 9:00 AM. It has been quite a while since I have experienced this. Could this mean that it is going to start being nice around here again? I sure hope so.
Seriously, you have way too much time on your hands. Might as well start blog for my gold fish (and I have three).
