Should/will Eminem join the $20 milion per film club?

8 Mile opened with a $54 million weekend.

I don't think Tom Cruise has ever had a weekend that big. Mel Gibson recently had a $60 mil weekend with Signs, but before that his biggest opener was Ransom with something like $33 mil.

So is Eminem worthy of the $20 million paycheck club, or does he need more tests first? What do you think he would be paid to be the lead in a new movie?

he's not an actor all he did was play himself-Howard Stern did the same in his movie-it's not really acting to play yourself

His appeal has peaked and will just get lower. As white suburban kids grow up, they realize rap is shit.

So unless he can find appeal with the next generation coming up, he will have a hard time.

No way...he was hyped, did an ok job on the film, but he could hardly go outside of his "box" and there are only so many "8 Mile" films he can make.

you are an idiot. it was scripted just like any other movie. its not like they just followed him around with a camera like they do on his concert dvd's. it was just a movie based loosely on his life. it wasnt a biography.

I think you're forgetting how big Eminem was with The Marshall Mathers LP....that CD sold 8 million copies and he was EVERYWHERE.

2 years later the Eminem Show came out and sold the same numbers. Em isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I agree. And you can't discount the fact that every damn critic who reviewed the movie said Eminem has amazing charisma as an actor (even critics who didn't like the movie). I thought the same thing as an audience member. I would watch another movie he starred in because he has tremendous screen presence.

Unfortunately Em doesn't want to star in another movie.

Oh yea, and Eminem fucking rocks. I can't believe anyone that visits this board don't think his lyrics are great. He isn't afraid to speak his mind to anybody and everybody. And no, I'm not some little punk white kid that listens to rap and acts like a gang banger wanna be. I listen to everything from country, rock, rap, top 40, oldies, whatever. Good music is just good.

And Eminem is the best rapper out there. I'm not talking about record sales even though he is double his closest competitor. I'm talking about skill. And many, many respected rappers have said the same.

i wouldn't see him in other movies ..

he already has a character mark .. that's a hard one to explain .. but, I just couldn't picture him in any role (except himself) that would make him very believable ..

Umm no they're NOT and that's the difference that I just explained. Once Backstreet hit a massive success, it was downhill. Eminem hit that twice with two albums, and THEN released The Eminem Show this year and still didn't lose it.

And the fact that his albums actually get better one by one is a big plus. He's growing as an artist quite a bit.
