He's an excellent speaker. He knows just what to say and what NOT to say. He's very, very good at leaving out the right words. Things like "I won't increase your income taxes or your social security taxes" (instead I'll start inventing entirely new taxes within months of taking office).
For another example, in all of his major speeches since 2008 he's promised to bring our troops home. Let's have a look at what he meant by that:
He did exactly what he said, he brought the troops home. Being the polished speaker he is, he didn't mention he was going to bring them home in pine boxes. No offense intended, but I'm always amazed at people that take the State of the Union seriously. It's all political grandstanding at it's finest. Amazing speech or not (I think the man has been full of shit since before elected and continues to be so), he and every other president 99% of the time say the things that are intended to sway public opinion and get them re-elected.
We'll see what he does from now on, but my money is on more of the same and to this point in his administration I am not impressed at all. I will give him credit for the milk joke though. Props to the writer and he delivered it very nicely.ICQ: 370 037 008Comment

Obama has said from day 1 that he would be drawing down Iraq and adding troops to Afghanistan. To say otherwise makes you a liar, or completely uninformed.

In 2009 Obama was talking about drawing down in Afghanistan. In 2008 he was promising to have ALL of the combat troops out of Iraq by March 2009, then by 2010, then by 2011. If you paid very close attention to exactly the words he used, you knew he was sending them to die someone else, but a LOT of people voted for him thinking he was the anti-war candidate who would bring the troops home. Just as a most Americans thought he promised not to raise taxes. In truth, he only promised not to raise income taxes and social security taxes, he never said he wouldn't invent entirely new taxes, but most people didn't think he'd do that and most people thought that when he said "bring the troops home" he meant it.
Watch him on this video if you don't believe me. Seven months ago he said he was starting the withdrawal from Afghanistan and promised to have half the troops out by last month. Are they home?
When questioned about Afghanistan, he has at times certainly acknowledged that he's sending a lot of our boys over there, but that's not what he says in the State of the Union or other major speeches. His speeches are all about bringing our people home. Honestly as you all might know, I do not like the guy, but most of what he said sounded good. Again that is what the speech is to do, make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I am so tired of this may or may not happen, I am Ready to raise the taxes on the rich, just so we can see what will happen.
Cap gains tax is 15% they want to make it 30-35% I hear, why not just hit a middle of 25%, and settle.Comment

Since then, Obama has racked up more debt than the combined total of 225 years, from George Washington to Bush. Over two centuries of debt in just three years. Our health insurance costs have gone up over 50% in just two years.
Obama says he should be a one term president:
