Tube sites will always exist. whether content is licensed or not, there will always be long clips/full length videos online. This is 2012. It's what users want, It's what users are looking for, it's where the traffic will always go.

Yes, with filehosts I was able to get JDownloader and pull in links and literally download over 100GB a day. I'm against it but it's hard not to fall into the trap as an affiliate looking for content to customize for max conversion as some programs don't do a very good job.

But tubes are not that much of a threat anyway - less sites, less updates, much easier to control. And of course their quality is not the best - enough for the average Joe probably, but at least we can win back some of those surfers who frequented boards because they wanted original quality.

They could. Especially if there are ever high profile cases of CP being found there. Many people didn't think anything would ever happen to Mega Upload and look what happened. They were buying out mainstream stars and trying to look legit when this happened to them.

just took a look at one of the big "sharing" forums, and they are saying to each other that there is no need to panic, that they have dealt with links being down continually forever, and that there will always be hosts somewhere, and are busy replacing the down links already so that most of the active topics are live again already

While I agree a professional forum would benefit from custom made avatars, it really is a perfect example of non profit fair use to grab an image from somewhere as avatar, and it really doesn't compare with running a pirate website for profit even if it was copyright infringement.

If CP is found and there will be proven high profile cases, I agree tubes might take a huge hit too. But it's not on copyright grounds. Not that it matters much if they're closed or forced to accept uploads from trusted sources only and keep their 2257 shit together; but honestly I do not see that happening, I have to check tubes regularly to see if our new stolen stuff is posted and it is very rare that I see something where a girl might look like she's below 18. We all live in the same reality, and the Internet has blurred peoples understanding of ownership with freeware, shareware, and the ease of which material is out there.

Major players like Google, for their own profit have exploited this.

We put a lot of pictures up and don't mind that they go out into the world, our movies because of the high cost we would like to make an income and pay our models and web designer etc.

Getting the large players to understand that content has to be paid for will be the first step, then others can fall in line.
