N.Korea has had nukes since 1994, they have not used them. It was only since Bush labeled them an axis of evil that new problems have developed.
Funny how N.Korea wasn't talked about in recent history before Bush came into power. |

I'm confused. what are thousands of our troops doing in S. korea again? I forget. You want to know why we're hearing about it now? because they kicked out the nuclear inspectors (UN not US) and broke their agreement with the UN (not the US) deciding to become a nuclear power while your population STARVES TO DEATH may seem ok in :frog: land but here in America, we know its a sign of trouble. |

By the way, what country that is likely to be involved in a war do you know of where most people don't own guns? |

Why is it when an American says something like "let's kick their ass" it's because we're bloodthirsty savages, but when 1 billion arabs yell for our blood it's because they were unjustly provoked?

I'm aware something like 30,000 troops are stationed in South Korea. A good female friend of mine is from South Korea and she tells me all the time how fucked up the north is. All their money goes into the military. I just firmly believe they aren't about to start a war, unless of course they feel pressured into doing so. I believe Bush is doing just that. Who knows. Anyways I'm off to lunch. |

Do you think any country or org. in history, present or future would EVER go to war if thier interests weren't satisfied. I hate to sound like a realist but, or World is dog eat dog. What is in it for us, if you don't think like that someone else is... and then they will take your shit! |

Doesn't every country? As far as I know, every country in the world acts in their own self interest. Strange how it's suddenly something to loath and scorn when it's America doing it. |

You'd better disarm before the rest of the world has to forcibly disarm you! Haven't you heard, weapons of mass destruction aren't allowed! |

You've put on a uniform - good for you - it at least gives you the right to discuss thousands of people dying - because you've been in that position - my main jump in this thread is all the keyboard heroes... My gripe with you is the 'owe freedom' and 'speaking German' - on those points you can definitely :321GFY |

that is a BIG reason why no one uses them. It is in the rest of the worlds best interest that the US has nukes, study your polital philos. behind nuke warfare! |

I do get a little incensed when people denegrate this country and call it war-mongering. I had four very good friends killed in Somalia on a so called UN peace mission. Somebody spits on and dismembers your friends and it kind of sticks with you. |

Kat, have you heard the term "Euro-trash"? It's because of people like you that such a term exists. You give not only your country, but your entire warm beer guzzling continent a bad name.

Just for the record, the USA was involved in helping the war effort of the allies during WWII long before they got directly involved themselves. No one here knows anything about the US "Lend-Lease" program? USA sent millions of tons of raw materials, money and armements over to Great Britain, and also to Russia. Billions of dollars worth, much of which remains unrepaid, and will probably never be paid back ever.
Never cut the USA short for their role during any part of WWII. Fact is, without them that war very likely would have turned out vastly different. And it is a tough decision for any country to send it's sons overseas to die when your country isn't in any real direct (or future) harm. |

Funny if you look at history, how things change;
During WWII the fighting nations in europe wanted the US to join the war, the US public was opposed to joining Hitler made the mistake of attacking a US warship, and that was that... Stepping back a little bit further, the infighting among smaller europen countries and backass republics made them ripe picking for Hitler... when he first acted, nothing was done, diplomacy was the order of the day, WWI was a bitter fresh memory, people wanted to avoid another major war. Yet if he was stopped then, it would have cost many less lives. It could have also left him in power to act later, who knows This history lesson is well remembered, and applied today. So regardless of what you think, that is why we are obligated to interfere where "hotspots" which crop up, and banana republics get out of line. It is also why Sadam ultimately must go, one way or another. He's a wannabe-hitler, with weapons that could pose a problem for a lot of countries in the region. He would try and gain favour (among arabs) by attacking israel. But make no mistake his goal (unrealistic as it may be) is to make war and control whichever arab countries in the area, that he could defeat. |
