I have been writing this script for the last 3 months, it?s of an old TV classic back from the 70s, finished the script, have some girls that I have casted some awesome girls for this, but i have no idea how to direct a parody.

What would you suggest?

Is it worth pitching to a big porn company or would they just steal it.

Familiarize yourself with the directors who have done parodies, pick the one who you think would do the best job, and strategically approach them by alluding to the original show but not outright saying it. Be persistent. Email them 10 or 15 times if that's what it takes. Talk about their work first when you explain why you chose to approach them. Tell them that you want to somehow be a part of it, get a writer credit, possibly work on the set and be part of the process, and that you won't get in the way. Don't expect much money and look at it more as an opportunity to set yourself up for the next one. If you make it yourself without the necessary distribution channels or without the guidance of a quality director or without the necessary budget, it will likely lose money and the movie itself will fall way short of what you had hoped it to be. You cannot live your life in fear so do not obsessively worry about having the idea stolen. Just be smart and be conscious of the possibility that it may happen. If you're the real deal, more ideas will come.

You might be able to sell a finished script for peanuts to a director or porn company known to make parody movies if it is good and your timing is right. But forget trying to pitch someone an "idea", lol. Ideas aren't worth anything, only tangible things or execution of an idea has any value. Pretty much every 1970's tv show has already been parodied anyway. What do you expect to do, ask for a meeting, tell some porn company that you have a cool "idea" to make a porn parody of Barney Milller and then get invited to particpate in the creative process, lol?

I would suggest you look at one of these films first...

The Max Candy one, if written at all, would have taken 30 minutes.

There are only 3 directors maybe 4 that would be interested and do a good job. All of their usual answers are going to be that they are only accepting scripts from people willing and able to finance it as well. Good luck.

If its polished and really worth protecting, send it to copyright office, then just so you feel like a writer, go to wga.org and register...its a good feeling. somewhat worthless but they have an amazing script and video library there...if you are in LA.

Do that stuff cause as soon as you start pitching it without a rep, someones going to rip it.
check out samuel french books..there are guides to directing parodies...mainly show up on set in beret and tongue in cheek and you should be fine.

Agreed... if the story has been wrote, the models located... now just to find the director, lighting, camera & photographers....

Seems the other way around that porn steals from mainstream or just films the same scene over and over and over again...so much so that the models will do it without direction
