My iPhone works great on 3g in Houston.... Strong signal here.

I did have a problem keeping it connecting via WIFI at my home... I could not figure it out... My iPad would not stay connected properly either.

I was using a shitty no name router. I bought a $15 Netgear router and it is working really good now.

This thread is amusing.

Turns out it was the phone. The new iPhone 4s has some issues with password management on certain brands of routers. It would say it was logged onto my wireless but it really wasn't. I had to strip down my router to the bare bounds, reinstall updated firmware, and then reset each computer and wireless device to accept the new settings.

The service would still pick up the ability to use FB, surf the web, etc. When the wifi is off, does her phone get 3G service where you live?

And your daughter didn't need an iPhone, the Jitterbug is pretty handy. :)

So in the end it wasn't the phone, your router had outdated firmware?

Kinda confusing how ur router firmware was messed up yet the phone wasnt using "cellular" service when it should have in place of the wireless.

That simply isn't true. :2 cents:

And what kind of router do you have? I have to put in my mac address to connect to our wifi the first time, but that's about it.

So he blames the phone because he has a shitty router.
