Satellites To Be Launched To Get Around SOPA

    http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Chaos-Co...ews-13742.html

Last week Farr said that SOPA is a perfect example of why the group desires a separate network. In addition to launching their satellite and three prototype ground stations, the team will expand the network by distributing working models of the prototype ground station to those attending the next Chaos Communication Congress in 2012. The stations will also be sold on a non-profit basis.

It's amazing what the human mind can do when not corrupted by power or greed.

That's cute and all but the amount of money required to launch anything is well beyond the means of anything but governments.

I wonder how DirecTV got their satellite up there.

This would be a definite possibility. I believe there are better and brighter minds outside the governments of the world and that this would be prepared for, in one form or the other. Hell, if this is looked at as an act of war upon those hackers, maybe they'll just take over that government's satellites

              Check this article: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics...yber-activity/

I had to finish up the Fall semester with a research paper on events of infrastructures that have been compromised and reported publicly. It's amazing some of the shit that's happened already that hasn't been getting the attention it deserves.

They didn't launch it themselves. They pay US, Russia, China, India, EU to launch it and it's at a massive cost.

Yeah with large subsidies from the government and the backing of a multi-billion dollar international corporation.

Not exactly the same as a "group of hackers" but hey, if they can somehow pull it off then great. I'm not opposed or anything.

It just shows that it can be done. If you look at those opposed to SOPA, there are some very deep pockets. So, with great minds and deep pockets, there is always a possibility.

                          Meanwhile in other news :

Tunnels were dug at the Mexican border to smuggle drugs.
Even though the tunnels were highly sophisticated, no governments changed any laws
and everybody caught coming through the tunnel went to jail.

Looking at the history of direct tv in wikipedia, direct tv's history goes way back to Howard Hughes. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirecTV

So they had a crap load of money and conections that date back to the 70's

Yes there some very deep pockets in the online world today but no so deep to do this.

Just by looking on the amount of money SOPA supporters vs Non SOPA supporters have spend on lobbying for and against this bill you can tell internet based companies have a long road ahead of them.

Of course they can. MTV did it. Sirius and XM did it. DishNetwork did it. Starband did it.

Those are just a few American corporations that I can think of quickly. If you've got the money, there is a rocket at Vandenberg with your name on it. Although the Russians probably do it cheaper.

That would be a truly risky investment.

China might think it's a spy satellite and shoot it down.

Probably, but they are going to need goverment support for this be it via US, China, India or Russia and i'm sure the last 3 countries love internet censorship and well, the US ain't gonna allow it.

                                    Then again, money always wins.

Not sure the USA would wait on China though. We'd just pretend to think it's a spy satellite and do the same.

No announcements either. The government would then leave the thieves trying to figure out why they can't download from their favorite file lockers

So they're orchestrating the mammoth task of lauching a satellite, just so they can keep downloading Smallville whenever they like?

Lol this sounds pretty desperate to me. I like how porno Jew leaves this part out :
Like all good ideas, there's a few hurdles to overcome first: objects in lower-Earth orbit circle the earth every 90 minutes, useless for a broadband satellite that needs to remain geostationary. Instead, a terrestrial network of base stations will have to be installed in order to remain in constant contact as it spins past, at the cost of ?100 ($130) per unit.

It's not going to happen Jew so don't cream yourself. And if it does it would take years.

In the mean time you may get lucky and some producers may actually let you use their content to make yourself some money from their hard work. If you're nice.....

Even though the tunnels were highly sophisticated, no governments changed any laws
and everybody caught coming through the tunnel went to jail.

And how will they pay for it with advertisers and processors pulling the plug?

I'm sure if people want to do it they can. If they want to fund it from their own pockets with no income.
