Goa is a haven for backpackers, and thieves. Be wary of strangers. Some of the annoying people who approach you aren't really Indian nationals. So don't dismiss them to be locals.
But the beaches are fine. Good luck!

Was very nice, in the 70s... nowadays, forget it.
Sea is horribly polluted, guys are wanking off looking at your girlfriend, it's too hot, and too touristic, in fact it's not like India at all, except for the cows on the beaches.

This is not the type of trip I was planning for, I am going solo as a backpacker to enjoy some new experiences and visit beautiful places, live the way I would never live and see what other cultures have to offer, not staying at a fancy hotel getting massages away from local life. I want experience a very high contrast to the way I live my life right now, only if just for a little while

Go south to Kerala - far far better and prettier than Goa.... Been to Goa, Sri Lanka and Thailand but Kerala by far the nicest...

All meals are provided and they're huge portions and made fresh when you want. Just be careful when you're eating freshwater crabs or the huge freshwater sweet prawns because odds are, you might be eating a dead Indian by proxy. I thought they were delicious!
I'm not a big fan of opium, not a fan at all actually, but I do expect to taste some very good Charas.Finally, most port village Indians will try to sell you hash. As your attorney I highly recommend this if it's mixed with opium. Nothing is better for a true traveler then floating down an Indian river as if you went back in time a 1000 years, baked on hash, full from great food, sliding into your third Scotch, Goan trance music, as you catch the sunset.

Indian people are the most hospitable on the planet to a fault, as the further you go south the more "real" they become as things get cheaper. Again, compared to the rest of India the people in GOA are much more relaxed and not as much poverty stricken comparatively. Your time means absolutely nothing to them and the true core to everything is your money. Due to this they will just about say/do anything to get it even if it's a lie or miss direction. They are masters at problem solving (usually created by them) as they are always the solution. With that said, it's impossible not to like them as they just grow on you.
Cons:
You're gonna get sick no matter how careful you are so stop thinking prevention and more damage control. All the food is made by hand and usually served by hand as cross contamination is normal especially, if your a vegetarian. So bring the right medication with you because nothing is worse being sick looking for it. Also, many products are bootlegged and made in a back alley somewhere so don't think it's safe because of the brand.
