As the closure of Strait of Hormuz would likely suit the interests neither of the US nor of Iran, the editor of Consortium News, Robert Parry, believes the US is pushing for a large-scale war against Tehran.

The research director at the National Iranian American Council Reza Marashi believes it is the long diplomatic impasse between Washington and Tehran that can lead to an escalation of the conflict.

As the two countries have ?an institutionalized enmity? conflict can spiral out of control as there are no levers to release pressure through diplomatic measures, he concludes.

personally i am just tired of the endless fear mongering that eminates from the media, & from the government.

Iran isn't going to do anything. They are not going to invade Iraq, not going to nuke tel aviv. The Iranians want a nuke for the exact same reason a texas gun-nut wants a barrett 50 cal. Its a great weapon to show your friends. Thats it. They have not, nor are they going to do, anything that leads to a war with the US. They want to stay in power & thats all that matters to them.

The war mongering is doing brilliantly for defense contractor sales of weapons to our so called friends in the middle east. Given the pentagon budget is getting slashed by the supercommittee fail, something has to take up the slack. Guns is the last thing left america manufactures. We can't send a man into space anymore, or build a reliable washing machine, or balance a budget.
