    How important do you guys think it is to have a Reverse DNS record setup on your server?

    Does this help at all for e-mail delivery? or SEO purposes?

    If I don't have it setup tons of emails get rejected.

          Thanks guys, I think I knew the answer to this question already...

          But I needed to hear it from other people in the business that I respect.

          Thanks again.

              often forgotten but actually very important to setup
              make sure that the hostname in the PTR record also points to that IP by an A record

                How could we check this? To make sure this A record has been setup?

                  Do a reverse lookup of your IP, then a forward lookup of the hostname the previous lookup returned.

                  x.x.x.x -> 1234.somehost.com (reverse lookup)
                  1234.somehost.com -> x.x.x.x (forward lookup)

                  Check that both the IP and hostname are the same in both queries.
