There was a show on AMC called The Killing that was really good. It wasn't up to the level of The Wire, but I really enjoyed it.Comment

For cop/crime shows, The Wire was just the best ever.
Television is a lil thin at the moment. Game of Thrones starts up again in April. GOT is Wire quality, and also studies deeper themes than just the surface storyline, but not exactly a cop show.Comment

Another cool show that just ended its first season is Homeland. It isn't a cop show, but it a spy/cia show and it is very good.Comment

treme is definitely the same style but you have to get over the fact that it is not a cop show.

for cops... yea the shield. I recently went throughthe first season of Game of Thrones. VEry Good! If you havent watch deadwood yet then you HAVE TO!
Plus theres another cop show that timothy Olyphant (from Deadwood) stars in called, Justified. Also , very very good!Comment

The Wire made me sympathize with characters who were at odds with one another, who needed things which were in opposition, and that really brought home some of the gray area issues and made me enjoy all the different storylines. I just don't really like almost any of the characters on Treme, don't find them terribly sympathetic. I mean, when the influence peddling contractor dude is one of the more attractive characters . . .Comment
