I get that. But making runs to the dump, huge home projects, taking the bikes to a state park, hauling around my wife's equipment... So much easier in a truck. The 4x4 thing is just for fun.

Of course you don't need a car. You live in San Francisco. You have BART and a bus system, and if not you can take a cab. You have everything you need in San Francisco and everything is a short bus ride away.

We don't have any of that here. We have a bus system that runs from 7am-5pm every day, but it's hourly, and it takes forty-five minutes for me to get to my dentist where I can do it in a car in less than five minutes. My doctor is two towns over in Roseville, I can't take a bus there, and we don't have cabs here. Same thing with the movie theater - The bus doesn't even run that late.

I live 15-20 minutes from a grocery store or anything so unfortunately I need my car. :(

i honestly wish i could exist without a car, its simply too difficult.

its easy if you live in french quarter and dont leave the quarter, but if you want to go back and forth across the mississippi river and drive around new orleans you need a car.

sucks, i much prefer a bike to a car

Cars really are a pain in the ass.

CarlosTheGaucho 12-22-2011 05:22 AM

Well, the advantage is your cars are at least sellable :)

Exactly....... It's when you haven't got a car you miss it. I have a skyline, the costs are a lot, but that's life..... earn to spend :thumbsup

Next MaDalton, you'll say you are moving into a box because you realised of the costs of a home :2 cents:

1-2 minute drive or 15 minute walk? I value my time. Grabbing a few essentials from the supermarket, for example... I can drive there, get what I need, and drive back home before you've walked even half the way.

Not everyone has time to piss away walking and lugging their shit everywhere like some backpacking hippy dipshit or tribal wife carrying water on her head.

So now you can tell me how I "must be American". (Hint: wrong)

L-Pink 12-22-2011 08:21 AM

Get a motorcycle for everyday use rent a car when necessary.

justinsain 12-22-2011 09:23 AM

So all this time I've been posting pics of cars when I should've been taking pics of sidewalks :Oh crap

Herb Kornfield 12-22-2011 09:57 AM

living in the middle of nowhere requires a car for me ... even if the X5 sits outside 99% of the time.

alias 12-22-2011 11:02 AM

I have looked into doing exactly this... Not due to cost - Just due to pleasure...

However the amount of 'Red Tape' in the UK, to get a bike licence these days, make it more trouble than its worth...

Had I just taken my bike test, in 87, I'd have been fine, but in 2012??? Good GREIF !

Not worth the effort... :(

Shame, but true

(No poo in this post)

Isn't it funny when you think about it - you spend so much money on your car yet the truth is most of the time it's sitting there doing nothing at all....

I think you have bigger problems if you need a private jet to get laid.
