Will the Clippers take over the Lakers in Los Angeles?

Some people on LA radio this morning saying Clippers may be best in the West. Is Los Angeles transient enough that the Clippers could steal the show for the next several years?

I feel like the Lakers need Tebow on their team to save them at this point. Its starting to feel rather desperate.

YES!

been a long time coming. we're super deep in the backcourt so expect a trade to get a back up center for DJ (who was already showing his ass the other nite) or better yet a better starting center. then it's over.

Trading Terry Cummings and Ricky Pierce for old Junior Bridgeman and Marques Johnson
Danny Manning and Shaun Livingston's bad knees
drafting Michael Olowokandi
drafting Benoit Benjamin
"Free Ron Harper"

Quick, Clippers are 1-0, Lakers are 0-1 - let's call the season!

Clippers will contend but I think Lakers still will be the LA force in the end.

wow at first I thought no fucking way. Then I forgot (since NBA was balls deep in a lockout) that they have Griffin AND Paul. Nice combo but the NBA Championship is probably going to be going to the better top 3 player team ie: heat with their 3. The bulls have 4 talented - if Rose is healthy- Knicks picked up a HUGE addition by adding chandler- while they wont win anything under dantoni, they can easily go deep in the playoffs. Heck the Mavs are coming back strong. Oh yea, the clippers will take over Los Ang- just give them another year to Gel and figure things out.

MVP= Griffin? Doubtful- but that needs to happen for them to take over the lakers.

that oop was nice but the dunk DJ had in the first quarter over 2-3 lakers was NASTY

ever since griffin started playing DJ has really been fired up. he was fun to watch last season as well....just couldn't stay out of foul trouble. had 3 fouls in the first half damn near every game lol

The Clippers are the 4th Best Team in the West.

1. Spurs
2. Thunder
3. Mavericks
4. Clippers
5. Lakers

I watched every game last year, the Clippers had 3 major issues:

1. With less than 5 minutes, they couldn't keep a lead.
2. Scoring threats, other than Gordon, and Griffin, there was no one you could count on every night. *Foye did deliver big last year though.*
3. Veteran Leadership - Brian Cook is not veteran leadership.

With the addition of Paul and Billups, you can now control the clock/game, can score big shots/want to take big shots and they have the leadership you lacked. Adding Butler (as long as he is healthy) is 20 points, Foye is solid, Bledsoe will learn and pick up so much from Paul & Billups. Gomes can score too.

I predict Clippers make it thru the first 2 rounds of the playoffs.

I would have never traded Terry Cummings or Ron Harper.

meh - don't care. hate franchises in all pro sports who only get good because of years of failure resulting in drafting at the top of the draft year after year after year. it's pro sports version of socialism/welfare. it's amazing that the clippers have managed to remain so bad for so long.

the Lakers are to be admired, they have remained contenders and champions for decades with shrewd management and coaching. Kobe and the Lakers are aging, like we all do. no shame in that.

Lots of places have them #2, and even #1.

game last nite was a good show of whats to come

we got the typical "no kobe" lakers where they stepped up hard (and seem to play better). i've seen the clips fall apart in these situations constantly but they stayed with it, chipped at that lead. blake even took over at one point exploiting his mismatch, looking like dirk nowitzki. the whole team was in on it.

i thought mo williams was gonna be unhappy coming off the bench but he didn't show it last night

I should have went more in depth, I was only focusing on the Clippers.

I would say:

1. Mavericks
2. Thunder
3. Spurs

I have the spurs there because I cannot put them ahead of the Clippers as long as they have Ginobli and Duncan.

They still have zero playoff experience with Jordan, Griffin, Bledsoe, Foye, Cook, and Gnomes, and even though they may add Reggie Evans (from what I read last night) I couldn't put them ahead of experience and playoff wins, like the other teams.

Mo Williams is in the best shape of his life.

Regarding the Lakers, I saw lots of positives: Bynum was a beast, S. Blake was hitting shots, unlike last year and that kid Ebanks, is bad ass, Shannon Brown won't be missed.

Oh, and McRoberts, who I like, needs to bulk up.

duncan is the dude but we all know he is on his way out. stripes and rings earned.

i don't buy into the "playoff experience" thing as much these days thanks to OKC last season, and...hell the whole 2009-10 playoffs (best ever)

bynum is the key to the lakers at this point....and thats the issue. between his paper knee and his lack of consistency, he's gonna make or break em. when he's on he's almost unstoppable. but some games he seems like he's not even there.

OKC clearly showed they lacked experience, hence Westbrook turning the ball over so much and the decisions he made....
