:2cents ...GOP will take off the gloves if Ron Paul wins Iowa

According to the Washington Examiner:

Quote:
If Paul wins, how will the media and the GOP react? Much of the media will ignore him (expect headlines like "Romney Beats out Gingrich for Second Place in Iowa"). Some in the Republican establishment and the conservative media will panic. Others will calmly move to crush him, with the full cooperation of the liberal mainstream media.

The article list a whole bunch of dirty tricks that could be used against Ron Paul by his own party.

Try to run for president as a libertarian and see how far that gets you in a 2-party paradigm.

The League of Women Voters used to control the presidential debate process in our country.

In 1987, the LWV withdrew from debate sponsorship, in protest of the major party candidates attempting to dictate nearly every aspect of how the debates were conducted.

Here is their statement:

"The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public."

RIGGED!

It does not change anything. Border's comment that "The article list a whole bunch of dirty tricks that could be used against Ron Paul by his own party" would have to refer to Libertarians. He is not a Republican, which is why he is finding it difficult to get the support of Republicans.

So, since I apparently have your attention . . . who will be Paul's running mate? Who would you like to see in the position since you are obviously ready to vote Republican this year.

Man.

What that means is that each party wants the debates to have approved questions and themes. It has NO BEARING on the election.

Who will be Paul's running mate? I don't know. I'm not in the business of predicting the future.

Who would I like to see in the position? No one that I know of or can think of at the moment, but if Paul did get the nomination I would sure hope his VP would be someone who believed in freedom, liberty, and our constitution as he does.

So, you have no thoughts at all on who you would like to see him pick. Okay, how about a politician that follows Paul's "philosophy?" You do realize that in order to win, he will have to pick someone that Republicans will vote for. Picking the wrong running mate is how McCain lost. You want to see that again?

The same year the League of Women Voters gave up control, two major political parties assumed control of organizing presidential debates through the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). The commission has been headed since its inception by former chairs of the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee.

Good luck trying to run as a third party. lol

I think it's extremely premature to think about a possible Ron Paul VP, given that he has a very slim chance of even getting the nomination to begin with.

Dude, you and I were having this exact same discussion last night in the other "Gingrich plummets" thread where I told you that Ron Paul has very little chance of getting the nomination, unfortunately.

Here is my exact response to you in which you responded you were "torn":

Most "republicans" are fucking idiots, just like most "democrats" are. They buy into the whole 2-party illusion, along with everything else that is wrong with our country.

That being said, it is highly unlikely that Ron Paul will get the Republican nomination when it's all said and done.

What matters, however, is that more and more people are waking up to the MESSAGE. Forget Ron Paul, THE MAN, it's about the message and the truth. The guy is 76 years old and about to die soon anyways, but the philosophical revolution that he has started will live on long after his death so that better, younger candidates can run for office with freedom and liberty in mind.

I just hope he can stay in the debates and the national spotlight for as long as possible, even if that means running as a third party candidate.

Wrong.... He's been a politician for a very long time... If he truly believed in making a real difference, he would have been spending that time building a real third party. Why the hell is he even a republican given all his differences. I have more respect for Ross Perot who truly tried to make a real difference.

Most of the so-called "Republicans" these days are really just Neo-Conservatives.

If you research the history of Republicans you will find that Ron Paul's views are actually pretty "Republican."

I don't know who was calling the shots with Ross Perot but the guy was going to win. That is until he decided to withdraw then re-enter the race later taking enough votes to put the Democrat in office.

I'd like to see Ron Paul pick a top, well known business person or military general to be his VP. I think it would be a good mix especially if they were very libertarian as well.

Sorry, can't keep all you fan bois sorted. Are you suggesting Ron Paul has the pull of Jesus Christ?

What kind of revolution is a dead guy going to start? You really should start helping him find a running mate. On top of that, he pretty much needs to start a slate so he can get anything done . . . . before he dies that is.

Just like last election cycle. How many years have you kept up with politics? It could still swing his way but it's a long shot, acting like he is in great position to win the nomination is ridiculous.
