Wow algae is really taking it's toll on the oceans reefs.
Typically these sea fans are a purple color and not covered with green algae.
Normally they look like this..
This is caused by the ocean temperature rising due to the so called non existent global warming.. It allows algae to bloom uncontrolled and it's killing off the oceans reefs.. Enjoy them while they last.
If you like snorkeling and scuba diving you should check out the cayman Islands. You don't even have to take a boat out, you just jump in the water and there's thousands of fish everywhere. I was snorkeling right off the beach by the hotel, and I ended up in the middle of a school of these fish here - I mean thousands of them; it was just a wall of fish completely surrounding me. They have a trip you can take out to this sandbar and feed stingrays and swim with them, hundreds of them. Then there's this wall for scuba diving out past the reefs; it's like a 200 foot drop off and there's all kinds of shit down there. EEls and Grouper poking out of the wall, Barracudas, all kinds of tropical fish. There's like three or four different wrecks to dive. It's really awesome, probably the best vacation i've ever been on.
I don't know how people do the cruise ship thing though, i'd wind up jumping overboard if I had to spend a week stuck on a boat with all those drunken assholes.

what camera?
I've been looking at the GoPro HD Hero2 for it's multitasking abilities (mainly ski/bike) but as it can go under too, it would serve that purpose the infrequent times I do that....
curious. Still, no filter on the cam for underwater shots?
