You should get iamavailableifyouneedassistance.xxx then, that would be mega super awesome.

What's the fucking URGENCY here? If you need to register a .xxx domain just to cover your ass do you really think www.mystupidfuckingwebsitewith100hitsaweek.xxx won't be available?

So many fake "playas" around here it's hilarious.

Seems like that kind of information could potentially be used as an unfair business advantage by DotXXX especially if it were for an underdeveloped niche paysite.

I'm sorry but when i register a domain name, i don't want anyone else knowing about it until *I* am ready to let others know about it, especially those working in the adult business :2 cents:

I doubt he has a notebook listing over 100,000 .xxx owners, again your getting caught up in the fear issue.

If you had a million views a day before .xxx you will do so again after. If you struggled to get 10000 his a day to a site before .xxx you will have the same problems after.

So correct, but owning domains and having successful websites are 2 different things, at least I know I own the land, and that I can build a nice house on it if I choose to.

When taking all of those facts into consideration along with the fact that an overwhelming majority of the true 'premium' domain names were already taken, I think it's reasonable to assume that the op's domains are not nearly as good as he believes them to be.

this is very true, some of my .orgs vanished on google, but I think .com will get more priority for mainstream, and .xxx will get more priority for adult. but not many know the theory behind googles mechanics, and once you figure it out they change it. I personally like Yahoo search results better, google lists way too many blogs with idiots personal opinions, some herbal remedy for a cold just might make you not wake up.

I am a domainer 1st, adult webmaster 2nd...so my priority is the domain name.

That was taken around 2 years ago at a diner in the Mall in Yokohama, Japan, my wife took the photo. The 2 girls were waitresses at the diner, the girl to my right side was hot and was making eye contact with me the whole time we were there. I think I would have been able to get with her if I wanted to. I don't screw around on my wife though, it would not make sense to do that to someone who treats me great.

.com is the standard extension, but the .xxx domain like any new product in every industry it needs marketing to help sales.

Well I did read somewhere that there are over 4 million porn websites or url's? In which if this extension takes off you will be left with 3 word and hyphen domains.

I jumped on .asia domains when they came out and it flopped, in fact I was visiting my in laws in Japan at the time when registrations opened and they required you to have an address in Asia so I used theirs. I purchased 6 and just took the loss, if you look at all the foolish stuff we spend or invest our money in this investment is small.

.xxx is not mandatory for adult and you don't need to only publish adult content on a .xxx, for example: Vodka.xxx "what naughty people drink" you will see creative marketing like this...

cooldude7 12-18-2011 12:30 PM

all good ones are gone ., useless / 2-3 words are there.,

epitome 12-18-2011 01:07 PM

Let's talk about some of the most successful sites and how the domains aren't great just to show it doesn't matter.

Twistys.com - made up variation of a word.
Brazzers.com - made up word.
HazeHim.com - Obscure.
BrokeStraightBoys.com - one of those dreaded three word domains

let's talk free sites:

Freeones.com - they made that what it is
justusboys.com - not a great name.
Rockettube.com - nothing spectacular

its not the domain, it's what you do with it. Even if xxx takes off there will be plenty of gems left for somebody that never registered a single one if they get creative.

Caligari 12-18-2011 01:15 PM

As I look at new .com domains to buy i am now noticing the .xxx equivalent and there are a buttload of .xxx domains available, many of which i would have thought would be taken immediately, yet they remain untouched...

And you are quite right Epitome, in the end it doesn't matter what the domain name is really.

TheHun.Net. I mean really, thehun.NET

.

Failed 12-18-2011 01:20 PM

In the .com world, 1 word and 3 letter domains are worth small to large fortunes, just for the domain, to a lesser extent .net and .org the same. If .xxx would get to that point, the same would occur. To say it's not the domain it's what you do with it, is only accurate for the domain names that can't stand on their own.

One of our developed sites is a one word tv domain. It isn't any easier to get traffic to and people aren't lining up to buy just the domain.

You're talking about com's that the entire world is fighting over. It's different than an adult only domain when the adult world is consolidating anyway. There will be lots that think they will make money but the majority will lose it. It's just like anything else.

I'm definitely not saying a 3 letter or one word domain will bring traffic, just that they are valued, you're right. I can only hope, as someone who purchased .xxx, they get sucked up and the same value starts to apply. Either way, business as usual. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

anexsia 12-18-2011 02:06 PM

Like others have said, if you can't get traffic or build up a .com sucessfully, you won't have any luck with .xxx either. There's so many great brands and websites built off of stupid domain names.

You could buy 10 .com's for the price of ONE .XXX.

I had an idea to register a couple more .xxx domains, the domains were taken already, but what was crazy was the hyphen domains were also registered today. I was way too slow today, watched a lot of football...what a waste of time with both NY teams getting crushed.

Have you developed any yet? I was thinking about waiting until they roll out their billing system, and maybe a month or two into the new year to let things settle and see where it all goes.

I also started to listen to all the BS and rumors in which had no foundation, because of this I missed out on 4 domains that I wanted due to hesitation.

The majority of advice given to me on GFY has been beneficial, and I appreciated very much. But being afraid of the what if, is just plain foolish.

No no silly Ghost... If the sites dont meet .xxx standards, they will just take them back.. So the awesomeness needs to be strong with him.

That's what they are waiting for. Oh and a nice free Idea of how to develop them out as well.

You're welcome, asshole.

I registered my 1 word .xxx on the afternoon they went General Availability.

As stated previously in this thread, there are some ridiculously named .com's out there that have made it big. What many people fail to realize is that you have to know how to actually brand your product. Don't think just because you have a .com, .xxx or .whatever that it's going to take off.

Now, I am on the fence about having to be successful in one TLD in order to be successful in another (.com vs. .xxx). I rode the dot-com boom and have been in the industry steadily, the entire time; non-adult. Really, it's all business. If you choose to push your brand and name it something god awful or use whatever TLD you think is going to help you get to where you want to be, then that's your choice.

Everything I keep reading about the anti-xxx-TLD is becoming tiresome. I know there are some legitimate concerns about it, but it's almost as if the majority is jumping on the anti-bandwagon just because it's the the to do - just like what happened with tube site discussion here on GFY.

LeRoy 12-19-2011 06:37 PM

If a newbie was getting into the adult game now, why purchase a 5 word .com when you can get a good 1 or 2 word .xxx and build a brand. (of course not infringing on anyone's trademark) so many good .com's still have parked pages.

No, but I am tinkering around with one at the moment, as far as billing I don't run my own programs, I am just an affiliate.

don't stress it, the same guys who hated the tubes all have secret tubes and buy traffic from them too, now the .xxx haters are searching for .xxx domains and are pissed the good ones are gone...so of course they are going to be upset.
