    Finally!!!! OWS and Meaningful Results!

Just kidding. There aren't any. Still business as usual on Wall Street, in the markets and in government

Bet if I placed 3 plates of filet mignon with all the trimming in front of them and left, the plates would be empty within 2 hours.

They are protesting for a better America. What have you done for your rights and the rights of others in this country?

They're being fucken twats, is what they're doing. How is shutting down a port, or raiding a church while screaming like idiots helping defend their rights?

They had a good message, but just totally fucked it up, and lost the support of 98% of the population in doing so.

Shutting down a port was supported by the unions that operate that port, and by the people who work there. In fact, they all worked together to shut down that port. If anything, they gained momentum and support for doing so. The Washington Post interviewed 1 trucker who said his wife would be angry and you believe they lost support of 98% of the people, come on

What you see in the picture is a few people trying to gather attention in the way that they see fit. It's more than most of us are doing for the country. But, the movement itself has steadily increased in supporters and activists. They are occupying homes across the country and not letting the banks foreclose, they are moving into Washington and congress in January, they are headed to Manning's trial to protest his detainment, there are planned protests of the new Defense bill signed by Obama, and the list goes on and on. Stop reading the mainstream press and take a look at what's actually being done, not at what's being spun and ignored.

Congratulations on casting your vote into a broken system, you did your part soldier! These people probably voted to, for a politician who promised change, just like every politician has in the past. And, just like every politician in the past, they lied and followed the corporate agenda put before them. These people are doing more than pressing a button every four years!

I voted, but have no plans on doing so in 2012. If I stick a dollar into a broken vending machine, no matter what I choose, I'm still not getting anything back. Same goes for voting.

Actually, I better just shut the fuck up. The defense bill was signed. I take it all back, I love our government, and would never speak out against it, because I'm a good American. I shop at Walmart and keep all of my money at Bank of America, I promise I do!

Welcome to democracy. The system is a creation of the people, ran by people. If your views were in the majority, these changes you want would be happening. If someone were able to articulate in a clear manner what could/should be changed, propose legislation and something that people could easily understand and get behind rather than a myriad of loosely connected abstract concepts and random personal gripes, then political platforms would change, elected officials stated goals would change, elections would change and legislation would change.

Is the system broken? I don't believe it is. The apathetic public is broken. The system is whatever the people make it or allow it to become. A collection of dirty, disgruntled retards standing around in drum circles protesting squirrels isn't going to change that.

I agree, and disagree. The system is broken, but you're right, it's the apathetic public that is responsible. Which is why I don't understand why you don't support, or hell even like that the OWS movement is out there calling attention to the system we let grow out of control. Even if they were a bunch of "dirty retards in a drum circle", which is clearly not the case, they are bringing attention to the corruption inside our government and they are shining a massive spotlight upon it, more so than I can remember any other movement doing.

I'm sure all of the longshoremen and truck drivers supported not getting paid two weeks before Christmas. Seems to me there was a lot of pissed off truck drivers who were not only not making money, but also loosing money.

Are they? Was anyone not aware that government is corrupt? This seems to be a generational thing where each decade or so, a younger batch of the exact same people act as if they've discovered or uncovered something new. In fact, this has been going on since the dawn of civilization with a population moving between cycles of expecting change, waiting for change, experiencing no change.. then demanding change, expecting change....... etc etc etc.

At the end of the day, they want nothing. They have no single cohesive idea that people can get behind, that can be drafted into a bill and passed into law. There is nothing that a future leader can stand behind to say "i am going to make this happen". People hated Bush and wanted the opposite. A guy with near zero political experience stepped forward saying nothing but "hope" and "change" and became the next President of the USA. And here we are. No hope. No change. What will the next guy be selling? The same thing. What will actually change, once elected? Nothing. That is the nature of politics. This is the nature of people.

You can figure out what those are right Squealer?

Yes that's right, it's a partial list of the OWS threads on GFY since OWS began a few months ago.

Multiply that with 10's of 1,000's of other forums all over the world talking about OWS.

                                    What does it mean?

It means that OWS is firmly embedded in the world psyche, whether you like it or not.

The big questions have surfaced and now everyone is talking about real core issues between government and corporations and how these need to be radically changed.

In 2012, all eyes will be on the candidates who finally say "enough is enough, the people have spoken."

You see, that's how real democracy works, not just by pushing a few buttons on voting day and going back to your regularly scheduled program.

And in the very least Squealer, time and time again OWS has made you look.

                                    .

There's always been a loser element in every generation. They always think they're right, they always think they're smarter.
Then they shit in the street..........because they're right and smart.

OWS will grow and evolve this year. They will change their name, being as the concept of "occupying" anything is illegal and turns off most law abiding citizens who want to support this movement but don't because of the very concept of it all. Then they'll move from Wall Street and other cities and go to Washington DC.

This group has collected a million dollars but didn't have enough common sense to understand that it gets fucking cold in NYC in the winter. Camping out in the winter in NYC wasn't going to work out.

And don't tell me they've "bought the banks to our attention" - As if we haven't been discussing it daily for the past four years.

I see quite a few guys from day 1 saying exactly the same thing as back then. If you still don't understand OWS maybe it's time to just stop thinking about it. Okay, you tried, thank you.. Now back to those gallery descriptions.

Why is it that the default argument when confronted with criticism is "you don't understand"?

That's so weak. If it was clear at all what was to be understood, there would not be a discussion about understanding.

The fact of the matter is that like any conspiracy nut, you retreat to the safety of a remark like that because it allows you to both evade the discussion entirely as well as attempts to elevate you in the discussion intellectually without having to say a word as the implication is then that you "understand" whereas anyone that has questions or criticisms "doesn't understand" and therefore are right to be ignored (thus saving you the trouble of actually having to take a position with well reasoned argument).
                                              .
