    NEED HELP!! Need to save ICQ history that can't be altered

    I need to redo my whole computer because of a virus but I don't want to lose important ICQ convo's I've had over the past 4 years... does anyone know how I can move ICQ or save ICQ and NOT LOSE ANY CONVERSATIONS???

    It's very serious one conversation history has to do with a lawsuit so I cannot lose ONE word and I have to have it stay locked so it doesn't look like it could be altered... the idiot I am going after has a huge problem so I can't have one conversation saved in a way that could be altered has to be locked up ICQ history...

    I have saved ICQ history and transferred it over from one computer to another before but the saved history was not locked... when I reopened it I could type in the conversations anything I wanted and I don't want that... it needs to be saved so it is unable to be altered...

              I am assuming that if you go into your appData and back up those icq folders that are under roaming that might do the trick, not 100% tho.

                  If it's that important, why even touch your current computer? Buy a new one and leave the old one as proof and as intact as possible. Unplug it totally and save it for any eventuality. It's well worth it, a new computer ain't that expensive in comparison to potentially losing a case, is it?

                  That would be my advice, having been an administrator of a large corporate network where we had incidents of cp and other illegal and unwanted files discovered. So I have been to court and had things verified as "untouched" and so on with the help of the computer forensics experts from the police.

                      Well, then she could just save the hdd where windows+icq are installed and just reinstall on a new hdd.

                              Start > Search or Run > %appdata%

                              Then go to ICQ.

                              Mine is - C:\Users\Monster\AppData\Roaming\ICQ

                              You'll see "Messages.qdb"

                                                  if you open the history there is a button that looks like a disk. not sure what it does. but it might save to a file.
