    And then fucking history channel starts that crap as well with pawn stars and chasing mummies and some other shows.

                                      Laughed at the cheesy Pawn Stars name when it first came out, figured they would only get a few viewers thinking they said "porn stars up next". But that show is actually pretty cool and interesting imo. I watch it on Netflix.

                                          It can be interesting but most of the show is set up. In some cases they ask people outside if they want to sell an item given to them.

                                                                                              What is interesting is that TruTV basically takes all the History channel and A&E shows like Pawn Stars and Storage Wars and makes cheesy clearly fake knock-offs of them. I was watching their storage one the other night while sipping some whiskey and was laughing my ass off. Have bought many abandoned storage units over the years I can spot a fake from a mile away. Over two episodes they opened up and auctioned off about 8 or 9 units. all of them were clean, well organized and not one piece of garbage to be seen. It was so fake it was funny.

                                                                                                                                      While I understand Pawn Stars is essentially a set up, it's still done in an interesting way.

                                                                                                                                      As for who to blame? Blame "Cops" that was the very first successful "reality show" and the others followed suite. I think History or Discovery (which ever it airs on) Deadliest Catch was the first run away hit for them.

                                                                                                                                      I can't think of anything prior to it on that network and once it became a hit they started turning both the Discovery Channel & History Channel into Redneck Reality TV.
