Facebook is rapidly (and I'm being generous here) turning into a service that'll profit more from your visitors than you can ever hope to.

Even massive corporations are so eager to have a Facebook presence that they don't realize - or care - that Facebook is going to suck every ounce of information they can out of their current - and potential - customers; then turn around and sell that information to the highest bidder.

Sure, some people are going to profit. Most won't. For a lot of people (and corporations are people, too!), having a Facebook presence is a cost of doing business. As is having a presence on Youtube.

Sony? Not likely. Most people know about Sony already, and Sony doesnt sell direct to the consumer.

Local businesses really benefit, IF they know how to promote on Facebook or hire someone who does (ChaChing!). Its a great way to get local customers who may not have known about the business, and offering coupons or discounts to people that currently "like" their page brings in the repeat business.

And there are other things you can do with a facebook fan page, that is just so easy it feels dirty, but I'm not giving that out for free.

Porn isnt allowed on facebook. I've seen a few models do ok with it, but it seems like they eventually get their fanpage deleted when someone complains that they linked to a "porn" site. Linking to adult or firearms is risky on Facebook.

Wondered this myself lately. But I don't see enough guys will to 'like' a porn site or a porn girl to have their family, friends, co-workers etc see. Sure some do it, but it doesnt seem lucrative enough to be worth it.

Twitter on the other hand? Are people searching twitter terms? Tweet a url with some keywords? Anyone can find it. Maybe carry more weight.
