Steve Jester, of Aptos, California, faced up to three years in jail for his stunt, but a Monterey County judge ruled this month that he will be placed on probation instead, and must enter an alcohol rehab programme.
The experienced base jumper, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time of his jump, was also found guilty by a jury of four charges including violence against a police officer, driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and disobeying police officer orders.
