Well, in canada the airwaves (including satellite signals) are owned by the public....although the satellite TV companies are trying to change that (obviously) more or less obtaining signals from the air as you're not directly infiltrating their network....not sure of how it is in the states.

that's true, if bell doesn't want me decoding their signal, don't make it touch my house..
that 'bell can't ecm us' is shit, the hardware is ours, they don't fry it, the tsop (software) still belongs to them, read TOS, and u aggree that they cna do whaever they want to it

I never said bell couldn't ecm the boxes...but it's not much of a threat....once every few months I need to take 10 minutes and update the encryption keys. Never had a card fried on me....I suppose it depends on the hardware setup. I've heard rumors of 3rd party decryption software for expressvu that works on their cards that avoids the ecm signals....haven't looked much into it yet though...probably will next time I need to reload the software

Wow! What planet do you live on. Hacking BV or SC is illegal and criminal according to our gov and its courts. The same with DTV even tough not available here.

Watch as much TV as you want but don't spread false info!

For your info:

New BEV ECM?
Reports are surfacing of another BEV TSOP ECM. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: 9:30 PM EST (WAREZFREAK)

ECM Info

If you are seeing the AVR picture(HBOB) on your TV, hit your system info button and look at the Location ID at the bottom of your screen. If it says 0000001 you have been ecm'd.

If you have been ecm'd, this means your tsop has been modified and your reciever, card, atmega etc... will NOT work.

To fix, you must restore your tsop by flashing your backing image to it with a jtag.

All testing devices for BEV are reported being hit right now, standby for more info.

Having a pirated DTV dish is NOT illegal.

Selling the equipment to people to do it, IS.

The ruling being "since you can't buy it, you can't steal it." or something like that. In any case, the recent court ruling was against the shops only - I know, a friend of mine worked at one and they were shut down.

Cheers,
Backov

isnt it illegal in toronto to have DTV at home too now?
before they start hitting us folks, go see how many cops or people with goverment jobs have DTV or dish or bell..
somewhere edmonton or something was giving $1000fines to police officers who had DTV...
teach them a lesson

But who cares, if someone from expressvu says they wanna see your setup, if u got a card or not, tell them fuck you before I called the cops and get you arrested for tresspassing, without a search warrent or some shit, as far as I know their not coming inside my house,
Someone asked me what if they say"But you have a dish on your roof, but we looked in our records and your not subscribed"

At first I said, well when you move, you can leave your dish on your roof, bell will send you a new dish to your new address, less of a pain to take it out, AND its good marketing, you move into a new house, theres a dish, your inclined abit to get satellite I guess. So I said you can just tell them you moved in and they left the dish up, so if they didn't pay for expressvu, its not your problem, right?

Then I remembered, its fucking Bell, the phone comapny, "Oh really? You just moved in? well our records show this account has been up since 1983." or whatever.. then I shut my mouth.. but still.. without a warrent, they aren't coming into my house, if they do, their leaving by ambulance
