He was EP and main writer too. He quit because they took money from his budget to pay actors on Mad Men.

At first I've read : Wanking Dead - and I thought that would be another gross thread but then I got inside and I see guts and gore and blood :-)

CIVMatt 11-22-2011 08:03 AM

The biggest problem is that this isn't how people would fucking act in this situation

I think The Walking Dead is the most overrated horror show ever made, it's boring, the characters are one dimensional and you could not have thought up a more boring plot for a potentially great show.

I want a show where the Survivors are the underdogs, zombies that are fast, strong and angry like in 28 Days Later or REC.

The pilot episode of American Horror Story was really bad, they tried to fit too many scenes into the first episode.

I gave it another chance recently and watched episode 2, I gotta say it was a lot better and I just kept watching the show after that. It's turned into a decent show, plot line moves at a slower pace than the first episode and it has plenty of mystery and suspense.

It's turned into a decent show, I'd probably rate it 8/10

So I don't understand the show just because I don't like the fact that it focuses on character development as opposed to them fighting the zombies? Trust me, I understand it plenty. Personally, I just don't think their reaction is appropriate to the situation they are in.

If the world was infested with zombies, we'd be killing them (or at least trying), not cowering in the corner worrying about a lost child or being pregnant (being pregnant should actually be a good thing in a shrinking population). The way the characters are acting would be more in line with a viral outbreak where a regular person would have no means to combat the infection (in which case running makes sense). Zombies are real and need to be killed for the world to survive. Why are they not focused on that? They seem to care very little about the preservation of the human race and history proves that this is not in line with how humans react to these situations.

My other issue is that the show is so slow. I watched the most recent ep last night. When that kid goes to the barn, it takes him two minutes to get there. Yes, it's only two minutes but that is 5% of the show.

Thanks for the intel. Maybe I'll give it another shot. It looked like it had a lot of promise.

The show is about PEOPLE in a zombie infested world. It's not about zombies.

It's not the greatest show ever, but its definitely above the heads of some of you retards.

I like the show only because I have a zombie and Armageddon fetish, but seriously speaking it is not that good. Some parts are very well done, and there are twists I never even saw coming (like Sophia in the barn), however I think it's really stupid how they choose to focus things that should have no importance in the world they live in. But I guess every show needs some filler. Shows on FOX suck, they really can't even be compared to anything on HBO, but this one is pretty good only because I like anything that has to do with zombies.

Watched the first season a few months ago on DVD. Well done. Really looking forward to catching up on the new season.

Yeah because The Walking Dead is a really deep show with a strong message. Please, it's just another cheap run-of-the-mill program for TV junkies.

I think you nailed it. Zombies aside, the way they act is very unrealistic.

Do you guys know this show is based on a black and white comic?

The thing I hate about it is that they force cliched and unrealistic conflict between the characters simply to propel the sub-plots which are hackneyed and lame.

It's as if half the time these characters aren't really in a world surrounded by flesh eating zombies but more so back in their respective towns pissing and moaning about the same old shit, which is ludicrous considering their situation.

In Romero's Dawn Of The Dead, after the group settles into the mall they begin reverting back to their old ways, like bored people at a mall. But the film was in large part a satire on consumerist society gone mad which worked very well. As a movie.

In The Walking Dead they don't give you much that you can sink your teeth into, and maybe it's because the sub-genre has been really, really played to death. Or undeath.
