    Cleveland or Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving?

Thinking about driving to one of these cities for US Thanksgiving and some Christmas shopping.

    Which one, and why?

I'd like to go to Chicago, but the wife doesn't want to sit in the car for 11 hours with our 3 year old.

Which reminds me, if I can find a replacement for her on this trip, I'll consider it.

Thanksgiving at a roadside Waffle House in Cleveland sounds wonderful to me.

        Not sure if trolling or...

Being a Canadian, we had our thanksgiving already. US thanksgiving is a non issue here.

if the weather holds out, and you enjoy good dining, i would say cleveland would be a good choice (but living here make me a bit biased) downtown e 4th street has some of the best restaurants (Michael Symon has 2 there), i think they light up Public Square Thurday night? (not positive though)
the usual sights are the rock hall and the science museum, and if you are into the arts cleveland has it all
thanksgiving eve is off the wall downtown at the clubs (i am too damn old anymore though)
shopping at Crocker Park (westlake) and Beachwood Place are the two premiere spots
tremont, little italy, ohio city and legacy village all have boutique type shoppoing and are pretty safe for being in the city

a nice marriott residence inn downtown for extended stays....

Great info thanks. I've heard it's a foodie city, but likely just Anthony Bourdaine propaganda.

Not propaganda....this is cleveland, and unlike the big cities, we have to try harder, and it shows in the quality of the food, the service, and the price......

the restaurant row downtown is a literal smorgasbord of every ethnic choice you can think of.....the browns are out of town, so it won't be a madhouse sat or sunday...

traffic jams are literally non existent here too...too bad the casino won't be opening until March

Im from Youngstown, OH which is in between both cities. If I had to decide Pit or CLE I would go to Pit. Much nicer city (cleaner), better shopping and some of the best Italian food around. If you do go you must get a sandwich form Primanti Bros - http://www.primantibros.com/

Listen to Jeff. When an Ohio resident tells you to get out of the state you listen.

I did not visit Pittsburgh, but stayed in Cleveland - downtown is pretty nice, with some good restaurants ("flats" if I recall for clubbing, bars). And plenty of shopping as in any city. So one more vote for Cleve

Just a warning. There is nothing open at all downtown cleveland on thursday night. Learned the hard way two years ago. Had a great time the rest of the weekend though. Great food.
