Are people not allowed to have peacfull marches in the USA or something Pretty stupid to try and block them. It just antagonises the protests, Wouldent it better to just let them march and then disperse

All the police are doing is drawing support for the occupy movements, which is just fine :)

Yes, they are allowed to have a peaceful protest. However, in order to not block the streets, (so that other people can drive to work, the doctor, home to their kids, etc...), the protestors must get a permit ahead of time. This allows a city time to reroute traffic, create alternative routes, etc....

The people that are not in the protest also have a right to be able to travel around their city.

From what I heard on the feed they were given permission to march and the police knew the route, so whats with trying to block them, dont make sense that just brought everything to a standstill lol

halfpint 11-17-2011 02:44 PM

If you are watching, they have let them march on, they are rerouting traffic, and the march is moving right along on the sidewalk as I post this. So they stopped them for a few minutes? Big deal. They are being allowed to march right now, so I'm not sure what you guys are talking about.

If he would of watched instead of just rambled (as usual), he would of seen the police purposely stop all traffic, in all directions, instead of allowing a free flow of protesters and traffic.

Retired Philadelphia Police Captain, Raymond Lewis was arrested today by NYPD officers for taking part in OWS.

Lewis, who has cut a figure at OWS in his police uniform, has criticized NYPD?s behavior towards the protesters as ?disgusting? and ?totally uncalled for?. He has also asked NY cops to stop being ?Wall Street Mercenaries?, and to go watch the film Inside Job.
