While we appreciate your offer to support and promote .XXX, the domains are available to everyone at the same regular price from your usual registrar. No. Fail. What you have here are people who realize that .xxx is bad for the industry as a whole while people like you are here as if you are trying to help us. You're not just making another business deal, you are fucking this entire industry. Thanks, EukerVoorn. I appreciate the defense, but I also realize that comments like that are simply the culture of GFY. My purpose here is to be helpful, to provide information, and be a point of contact for those people that are interested, or have questions. I can take a little heat if I'm also successful in my purpose.
So when I say FUCK YOU understand that it is for sound reason.Last edited by shade001; 11-18-2011, 09:27 PM.Comment

I dont know how you can show up in here acting like you want to help and support people who are rushing to buy your domains, everyone hates you guys so much and feels like they are being all but blackmailed into buying xxx to back up their domains before some vultures grab them.
The anti porn censors and legislators are the only ones who love you guys - they are licking their chops with delight at the prospects of forcing all adult content into the xxx space..

There have been several comments and questions about this, so with only 9 days remaining in Landrush, I wanted to take the opportunity to explain a little bit more about exactly what Landrush is, how it differs from Sunrise, and the benefit to taking advantage of this opportunity if you are considering registering .XXX domains.
Sunrise A was a first come, first served, domain matching opportunity for those people that wanted to secure the .XXX version of their existing and trademarked ADULT domains.
Sunrise B was to enable NON adult companies to protect their NON adult brands.
Landrush is for members of the adult Sponsored Community, but not on a first come, first served basis. Applications for competing names will go to a closed auction at the end of Landrush. In other words, if two people apply for the same name during Landrush, the auction will ONLY be between those two people.
Yes, there is a small premium for buying during Landrush. It varies from Registrar to Registrar, but averages in the range of $80-$100 dollars. This is the part that is 'non-refundable.' However, the cost for the domain name itself IS refundable should someone else apply for it and win it at auction.
Once registration moves to General Availability on December 6th, then it's first come, first served - and this includes Domainers. The fastest to the keyboard, and the fastest to enter their information will be the ones to get the names, and much like with .coms, once a privately held domain goes to auction, the price tends to be highly inflated. This is a great opportunity to purchase short, clear, concise names, and there are some fantastic names still available.
To that end, we invite you to visit buy.xxx where you can connect with the registry check server to see which names are still available.
As always, if you have questions or concerns you are more than welcome to ask me here, or email me at prbot at icmregistry dot com if you prefer.

So can you explain why there are already sites running on .xxx that are not the trademarked owner of the domain name?
And why there are already sites auctioned off to people before the landrush date? How does that work?
I think these "sunrise" periods are pretty shady gray area considering people are already acquiring xxx domains. gay? shemale? someone owns the trademarks to those? Please explain.
All the info you can give us here in gfy will help. I wanted to register a domain already but when I read that I was not guaranteed the name I declined. Now I just don't know if I even want to having seen what has gone on prior to the landrush.
Congrats to those who got nice domains already, but some of us still have questions. I look forward to your answers! Thanks!Comment

last time i looked at the ste it said it guranteed that no virases would be on .xxx sites and also no one under 18 could access a .xxx site.
is this still the case?
i presume you will componstate site owners if you fail to provide the service you offer. and from what i gather part of the overprced cost on the domain incl;udes these servises.
so are you guranting that if somone buys a .xxx they will make sales from it? and f not will get a full refund plus compensation?Comment

Can you explain the auction process if you have multiple applications for the same domain name, how long will this auction take place, will it be transparent, I am sure nobody wants to bid against a computer bot.
If you don't get the domain you want, who is refunding the application fee? and how long will it take to be refunded. Will the refund come from ICM or the domain register?
Also who is taking the liability if someone does win the domain at auction and a couple months later someone sends a S&D letter asking for the domain name...since they own the other extensions.
You said you like answering questions...so here is some tough ones.Comment

ICM Registry have reserved an array of domains, which they call premium domains. If your trademark / pre-existing domain name happens to match one of these reserved domains you have no way of claiming the equivalent .xxx domain until such time as ICM Registry decide to hold you to ransom for it through an auction process or similar.
These so called premium domains were not made available through Sunrise or Landrush.Comment

No. There is an adult performer program, where performer names have been reserved. It prevent cyber-squatting performer names, which is a common occurrence, but performers still need to purchase their domains.prbot at icmregistry dot comComment

It would take pages to give a full explanation, because first we would have to cover trademarks in general. A layman's single sentence summary would be, everyday common words, cannot be trademarked. (And that is really an overly broad statement, because there of course, are a few notable exceptions. - If you're really interested, email me, and I'd be happy to share a site with you that does a good job of explaining it.)So can you explain why there are already sites running on .xxx that are not the trademarked owner of the domain name?

You may still have an opportunity for your chosen name during landrush. Only about 5-10% of available names go to auction, and those are closed auctions, only between those that have applied for the name during landrush. So if you look on buy.xxx for cherrylula.xxx for example, and it says 'available' - you can apply to buy it. if no one else has applied for it - it's yours. If one other person has applied, only you and that other person go to a closed auction for the name. But really, what are the chances that someone else will try to buy cherrylula.xxx?prbot at icmregistry dot comComment

ICM can promise you a billion dollars but if they don't pay you agree that you can't hold them liable for anything when buying your domain.
While the customer may agree not to sue them, the FTC can ... so if you buy a domain and are not immediately delivered all that was promised pre-launch, file a complaint at ftc.gov.
Once 100 or more people file a complaint they will get the attention of the FTC.Comment

As with any site on any domain, a very large part of its success is up to the domain/site owner.
It would be unrealistic for me to say "ALL," however, ICMRegistry is investing over 25 million in mainstream advertising alone over the next year, as well as the programs in development that are intended to drive traffic. We want .XXX domain owners to be successful and we're investing a lot to help with that.prbot at icmregistry dot comComment

The "premium" domains that ICM Registry have held in reserve are "generics" as I explained to cherrylula above. If you have the dot com equivalent of one of those names, you are more than welcome to email us and tell us why you should get that particular name at no premium. We owned this domain in another TLD in 1995. Nobody else had done porn trading using this particular name, there is nothing generic about it - it's not a dictionary word.
You have reserved it because it's short and memorable and intend to extort as much as you can for it.
When I emailed during sunrise A I was basically told "too bad so sad get stuffed"
As I have said, we are watching it closely and the very moment it goes to someone other than us then expect a summons. We'll be launching legal proceedings in two jurisdictions to ensure that we inflict as much pain as possible on ICM registry for screwing us.Comment

I'll have to get back to you on the auction process and it's timeframe. I believe that all auctions should be complete by General Availability on December 6th, but it's entirely possibly that that's wishful thinking.
The Landrush fee is split into two elements: 1. a non-refundable element and 2. the registration fee which is refundable in all cases for those failing to acquire a name.
We are expecting only 10% or less of Landrush applications to go to auction if this Landrush follows that of other TLD's. Please check with your registrar regarding refunds, but note, that we don't charge the registrar the registration fee portion until the domain is actually awarded, so refunds should be rapid from the registrar.
As in all cases the registrant takes the risk against any infringing activity against trademark holders. You should seek advice on this point from your legal representative. Also who is taking the liability if someone does win the domain at auction and a couple months later someone sends a S&D letter asking for the domain name...since they own the other extensions.
