So what makes this video especially creepy and oozing with tragic irony. Marius Els was a farmer in South Africa who had raised Humphrey the hippo since it was a baby. Els' body was discovered last week, ripped apart by the hippo's razor sharp teeth. The fate of the hippo remains unknown.

I'd have loved to have seen the look on Marius Els' face when his "pet" suddenly decided to turn on him. It would have been an all time classic.

You have to respect wild animals... they dont know that killing you is wrong and they dont fear consequences or feel any remorse over it.

I go diving with sharks (I'm a certified Shark Awareness instructor) and I show people my photos and they freak out, tell me I'm crazy, was I scared, lost my mind etc etc. Just respect the animals and you'll most likely be ok.

Dont grab a shark's tail or touch it when it swims by, and dont sit on a hippo. Seems like it would just be common sense to most people.
