Zuccotti Park, If privately owned, can't the owner
Tell them to get out?
I would be pissed if I owned something and people would not leave. Maybe the owner does not want them to leave, I honestly do not know. |

It is privately owned, but not by one person. Instead it's a company. If I recall correctly, their rules about the park is that it's open 24/7 to anyone. So far I believe they have been rather nice about it.
The ironic part is who owns it.... It's a real estate company: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brookfield_Properties

Zuccotti Park was built by Brookfield in exchange for zoning variances, and that as part of the developer's contract, the public is entitled to round-the-clock access.
in a nutshell they agreed to bend the rules in exchange for 24hr public access, if they break the contract their zoning contract would also be void.

I understand by contract it's open 24 hours, but camping, tents, and building structures are against the rules. Therefore, they would be within their rights to enforce the "no camping" rule. At one or two times they said they wanted to enforce the rules but changed their mind.
I found it interesting that in the other thread when someone mentioned that it is privately owned, someone quoted that fact and replied saying they have a constitutional right to assemble. I wonder, does that mean that my friends and I have the right assemble in your house?
