Apollo 18, yes or no

Ok, so I just watched this flick - not to self-proclaim i'm a wizard of the movie, but this wasn't too bad. Unique and a Blair Witch knockoff in a space proportion. I did like it, ending was abrupt but made sense. Thoughts?

I agree, it wasn't that bad...it could have been so much more though. I'm one of those who loved The Blair Witch Project.

Blair witch?

kind of over simplifying things a bit aren't we? That movie was pretty imaginative for how it was done and inspired a wave of movies like this--not to mention above and beyond what any of the other idiotic horror movies that have come out in the last 10 years that were shot with slick shooting and over use cgi with in everything. Not to mention things jumping out at you going for cheap scares. This movie was done extremely well, got too popular too fast and then all the doubtfuls in the world showed up the next day deciding that they wouldn't be impressed unless they shit their pants and started crying during the middle of it. If you are unable to lose yourself within a movie like this then you will probably never be able to enjoy anything--stick with action movies with Jason Statham in them.

As for apollo 18? It was dog shit, but dog shit that was inspired by a well done movie.

Good post. If you didn't like Blair Witch Project you can atleast respect the movie...the way they made it was awesome, it brought a new genre to popularity and it was one of the first movies to make use of an internet viral campaign. There was surprisingly a lot of people that thought the movie was real when it came out because of the online viral campaign and TV lore they had going on at the time. They made the movie for peanuts and it ended up making hundreds of millions of dollars. I mean just lookup the history on how the made the movie, it's fantastic the way it was made.

There were a lot of horror movie people that didn't care for it when it first came out but if your browse horror movie forums you'll find that they now regard the movie very highly after watching it a few times and realizing what a good ending it had and just the overall feel for the movie.

Of course you can't expect half the people here to understand considering there was just a thread praising "Thor" as a really good movie lol.

I watched it the other night, wasn't impressed at all.

Starts a bit too slow for my liking, not enough speech or things happening. and if that was supposed to be made from "84 hours of footage" or whatever they say, that is supposed to be the best of that footage? If so it could have been shrunk down to 30 minutes and you would have got the story and it could have maybe been better.

I didn't like how false it was either.

blair witch had nothing in it worth watching. i could take my kids out to the woods and hire some college kids the goth kind and make a movie have them dance around a fire and do some wiccan stuff. im more of a hardcore horror wrong turn, saw, black christmas my bloody valentine etc....

Blair Witch is a very good horror film, and the marketing was pure genius (more so than the film). it's amazing that they auditioned nearly 1000 actors before choosing the leads which did a great job.
It's also interesting that a year before Blair Witch another guy made a similar film called "The Last Broadcast" which in some ways is far better than Blair Witch.
Unfortunately he lacked the marketing skills to propel it like BWP.

I'll probably check out Apollo 18 when its on DVD.
