    Sasha Grey says she will NOT back out of a national elementary school reading program -- despite pressure from parents -- claiming she will "not live in fear" of her XXX past.

    TMZ broke the story ... Grey -- who once won a Best Oral Sex award for her role in "Throat: A Cautionary Tale" -- participated in the "Read Across America" program at Emerson Elementary School in Compton, CA last week.

    Afterward, the school received complaints for letting Grey around the kids. For the record, Grey has been out of the adult business for 2 years.

    Now, Sasha has released a statement ... saying, "I committed to this program with the understanding that people would have their own opinions about what I have done, who I am and what I represent."

    She adds, "I am an actor. I am an artist. I am a daughter. I am a sister. I am a partner. I have a past that some people may not agree with, but it does not define who I am."

    "I believe in the future of our children, and I will remain an active supporter and participant in education-focused initiatives."

                  its simple: (and I have nothing against anal porn stars this is not personal opinion its the truth)

                  no parent would want their little kindergarten daughter hanging out being read books by Ron Jeremy or max Hardcore, so its within reason that most parents feel the same way regarding a female who does the same activity.

                  I know I personally would not want porn stars coming to my daughters class and reading books to her. And Im in the industry, so that tells you how parents in the civilian world feel about porn stars in the classroom.

                  Again, not bashing her, or the industry, its a matter of what people think of when they instill trust to teachers to instruct children. And you add anal porn stars to the mix you just asking for attention.

                              Wow, you guys are more anti-Sasha reading to students than a sampling of the general population. I read the article on Huff Post yesterday, and almost all the comments were in favor of her reading to the children. And a lot of the comments were from women. One person stated, "rather an x-porn star than a Penn State coach," and another asked which is worse, a retired porn star not ashamed of her past, or a crooked, lying, theiving politician? They sided with the porn star.

                              I think it would have been better had she not used the "Sasha Grey" name, but I doubt any of those elementary school kids are going to run home and google her name. Now, when they get to high school, they might stumble upon some of her stuff and go, "No way! She read me story books when I was in 3rd grade!"

                              People are too uptight in my opinion.

                                  When a girl is 18, she doesn't think of the long term consequences of her actions. It's sad that people are are so puritanical and judgmental, but this it's the way shit is, and nothing will change it.

                                  She's a great person for wanting to participate in a program like this, but I totally understand why parents would have a problem with it, and she should back out. She can't push herself on people that don't want her around their children.

                                                  First of all, it's only been what, like 6 months since she quit adult?

                                                  Also she's had more mainstream crossover exposure than all but a handful of adult performers get because of her movie and her "Entourage" roll.

                                                  I think if I found out that there was a former adult performer working at my kid's school it would probably not be a problem for me, especially if it was a female who was clearly done with the industry.

                                                  But not someone like Sasha Grey, it hasn't been long enough and she is very recognizable so it's impossible to pretend you don't know who she is.

And she's an EX-porn star. The one article I read says she hasn't done anything in the biz for 2 years. If she was actively shooting, I can slightly see if differently. But the kicker is, she came dressed like an average woman, not like a porn star, not like a stripper.

She dressed appropriately, she acted appropriately. Just because she fucked on cam in the past shouldn't disqualify her. I bet a ton of those outraged parents would have loved for some "real" actor to come read to their kids. Perhaps Lindsay Lohan can stop by after her community service stint at the local morgue.
