Outlaw Man - An Ode to the Wild West Outlaw (pics, vids, western songs, tall tales & more mullarky)
shift your mind, you are heading to somewhere different than where you came from mandatory listening Any old west fans here? I have always been facinated by the characters of the old west. Wild Bill Hickok, Wild Bill Longley, Butch Cassidy, Harry Longabaugh aka The Sundance Kid, Etta Place, Jesse James, The Dalton Brothers, Bob, Bill and Grat, Elfego Baca, (lol yes there was an outlaw name Elfego) Doc Holiday, Wyatt Earp and many, many more. It was a time when anything went. Cocaine, Cannabis, Heroin, Opium were all legal. When a man was a man. When freedom was real. When time moved slow. We are going to take a look at a few of the old characters and maybe spin a tall tale (all true of course) and just relax and fade back to 1865 to 1885. We will be moseying along. No hurry. Time moved slow in those days as it will here. Post your fav outlaw pics or western sounding songs, spin a tale, have a cold boy in the Long Branch saloon, pack a chew and stay a while. Please, no hitting on Miss Kitty. Smoking is allowed. Busting a bottle over someone's head is encouraged. Substance abuse is not only encouraged but mandatory. Spitting into cans is the norm. Hot beef sandwiches and huge cuts of meat, lots of potatos, fresh fruit pies, endless taps of beer, hot black coffee, fat stogies, homemade cigs and cannabis cigarettes is our way. The saloon hall is a haze of intoxicating smokes. Both tobacco and cannabis and other indian herbal concoctions. Let's start with someone who wasnt really in the old west but who could have been Beverly Louise Neill aka Miss Kitty Born: 20-Feb-1929 Birthplace: Buffalo, NY Died: 16-Aug-1989 Location of death: Sacramento, CA Cause of death: AIDS Aids? wow, very strange. a beautiful woman to feast your eyes on after a long day in the saddle altho an actress she embodied the saloon hall girl in our minds a very beautiful woman who seldom took any man (other than Matt) up the stairs of the Long Branch saloon, but we all wanted to go We will be "free flowin". I have no idea where this thread will go (if anywhere) but your ideas and input is more than welcome and will determine the path of our journey. Post a fav outlaw and I will recap their lives. A thread like this to be done half way right can not be hurried. In fact i may not even post no more tonight on it. But I prob will. a very beautiful western woman high school I am certainly enthralled with the saloon and dance hall girls of the old west. One time on a road trip out west we stopped at one of those western shows where they have dance hall girls. 6 Flags over Texas or somewhere.. but there was this one beautiful dance hall lady I will always remember espec those sexy tights they wear and the red ouitfits (and I was only 13) (i must find higher res pics of the dancehall ladies in their red frillies, black stockings and western style high heels) can can girls perform for Wild Bill and the boyz |

ah yes.. "Red Dead Redemption is an open world action-adventure western video game, developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games
Most of the game's story takes place in the year 1911, during the decline of the American Old West." Sounds pretty cool but a tad too modern for us. Afterall the automobile isnt even invented yet. We are stuck in 1875. Computers are not even a dream in Wild Bill's head (before he got shot on Aug 8, 1876 by Jack McCall) Maybe we should start with Wild Bill. Is there anyone cooler than Wild Bill Hickok. Right now I need to use the latrine. Too many beers already. And damn Miss Kitty looks fine tonight. But thank you for chiming in partner. I really do appreciate a hand. Have a beer on me. NEWLY! A beer for my friend. |

I cant get past Miss Kitty. hmm I bet the wild west was a lonely place. You hated to leave the Long Branch. One thing that always facinated me was the "hole in the wall" which is located in north central Wyoming. This was a place that is extremely rugged and can only be accessed by skilled horseman. Among those known to venture back there were: Butch Cassidy Born Robert LeRoy Parker April 13, 1866(1866-04-13) Beaver, Utah, United States Died November 6, 1908(1908-11-06) (aged 42) Cause Uncertain, one theory: gunshot by Bolivian militia Alias(es) Butch Cassidy, Mike Cassidy, George Cassidy, Jim Lowe, Santiago Maxwell, Charge(s) Horse thief, cattle rustling, train and bank robbery Conviction(s) Imprisoned in the state prison in Laramie, Wyoming for horse theft Penalty Served 18 months of 2-year sentence; released January 1896 Occupation Thief (train robber) Spouse None Parents Maximillian Parker and Ann Campbell Gillies Children None The Sundance Kid Sundance (Harry Longabaugh) and Etta Place just before they headed to South America out of NYC to escape the Pinkerton detective agency. Born Harry Alonzo Longabaugh 1867 Mont Clare, Pennsylvania, United States Died November 6, 1908 San Vicente, Bolivia Alias(es) The Sundance Kid Allegiance Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch Occupation Cowboy Spouse Etta Place Allan Pinkerton Kid Curry (Harvey Logan) Born 1867 Iowa, United States Died June 17, 1904 Parachute, Colorado, United States Cause Gunshot Alias(es) Kid Curry Allegiance Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch Charge(s) Murder Occupation Cowboy Black Jack Ketchum Born October 31, 1863(1863-10-31) San Saba County, Texas Died April 26, 1901(1901-04-26) (aged 37) Union County, New Mexico Territory Alias(es) Black Jack Charge(s) attempted train robbery Penalty Death Status Executed by hanging Occupation cowboy, cattle driver, outlaw and others. But alas the tale must end as I have fallen in love with Miss Kitty and will be staying in the Long Branch buying beers and staring into Miss Kitty's eyes the rest of tonight. It was a long hard ride today fellas. And Miss Kitty is not easily left or forgotten about when compared to cactus on the trail. NEWLY! A beer for all my friends. Round for the house! And another for my man garce. I think I bit off more than I can chew with this thread LOL So instead you all invited to pull up a spot at the bar and maybe I can find some more pics of Miss Kitty. I will pay lodging at the Long Branch for all my friends. NEWLY! ON ME. Free drinks and tonights lodging. All rooms filled. beautiful sunset tonight |

I love the old West. Been out West a few times, very beautiful in an austere sort of way. The older I get the more I love those old John Wayne westerns and Clint Eastwood westerns. I think I would have been better off living in an older time. Modern society rubs me the wrong way.

Monument Valley, Arizona
Barry, real nice contribution, we have the same tastes. I dont think I ever seen anyone post Uriah Heep besides me. Gonna listem to all 4 now. Shade, I hear ya man and that is part of what this thread is about. The solitude, peace and beauty of the old west. The thing is a lot of us are stuck in certain places and to see scenery and hear stories of the west takes us places even if only in our mind. Fletch, listening to Earth and I really like it. Thought it was gonna be another head banger group but indeed it is "soundscape" music which I never really heard of. But I really like. This is the kind of thing I hoped this thread would bring out. Good stuff. Ominous music. Badlands music. Monument Valley, AZ (photos by Kurt Engle http://www.panoramio.com/photo/36963480 ) In fact now I think the direction should maybe be more towards scenery shots as that seems to be more real with feeling and takes us places. Maybe throw an outlaw in with a quick story. Very happy to see there are some wild west fans and outlaw afficionados in the bunch. Apache Trail in Arizona more Apache Trail in AZ Ya gotta watch that desert wandering stuff. Few guys (like the MMA guy, Evan Tanner) found it can be deadly even if prepared. But I know you know that but felt I better say something. My friend recently had a heatstroke in North Carolina on vacation hiking. He hiked a stretch 3 previous days (mile in, mile out) with no probs. Like Tanner he is in super shape. Cuts wood for heating and money and throws around heavy logs on a regular basis. Prob no harder work. Anyhow on day 4 he suddenly got hit with heatstroke while a mile in. Only thing that saved em was his sopping wet tshirt he put over his head which allowed him to sit and somewhat get his bearings and then go for it. Said his heart was beating something terrible. He suddenly lost conciousness (heat stroke) and went down. Scared the hell out of him. He got low on water (electrolytes) more than likely after 3 prev days of hiking. He had no water on him. Only his confidence in himself (prob like Tanner) and it almost killed him. --- Elfego Baca Infamous Lawyer and Marshall Survived a shootout for 36 hours against 80 cowboys (short version) Elfego Baca cornered in the tan adobe house attached to the Frisco store in Frisco, New Mexico (now Reserve, NM) by 80 cowboys for 36 hours. They shot over 4000 rounds at the house and him. He was never hurt and eventually surrendered. During the shootout he killed 4 of the shooters and wounded eight others. He had a slight dugout floor allowing him to avoid the shots. (1993 pic, house since restored) (full version) c&p When Baca was about 15, he claimed to have befriended the infamous Billy the Kid. Looking for excitement in Albuquerque, they supposedly witnessed a murder. Later, Billy fired his pistol several times, making noise and irritating a deputy sheriff. Although Baca believed his companion was Billy the Kid, history has placed Billy elsewhere. While Baca and New Mexicans perpetuated the legend, his real life played out like a Western novel. At 19, carrying a mail order badge and a stolen gun, Baca arrived in Frisco, near Reserve, N.M. The Spanish settlement had three scattered plazas, which were the stomping grounds for many cowboys who would wreak havoc on the citizenry. Baca had heard from Lower Frisco’s Deputy Sheriff that some cowboys drinking at Milligan’s Saloon had “altered” a man nicknamed “Burro” in front of an aghast crowd. When a brave man stood up for “Burro,” the drunken cowboys tied him to a post and used him for target practice. The sheriff would not make any arrest because he feared for his life, but Baca did not scare so easily. The now deputized Baca struck the opening blow of a “war” by arresting one Charlie McCarthy after he shot off Baca’s hat in defiance of his orders to end his aggressive behavior. A gunfight ensued between Baca and a group of cowboys demanding McCarthy’s release. One man died when his horse fell on top of him. After a brief trial where McCarthy was charged and fined for drunk and disorderly conduct, Baca made himself scarce. He eased through a crowd of cowboys concealing his identity by lowering his hat over his eyes. Soon members of the angry mob sought out Baca and discovered he was hiding in a jacal, or shack. The jacal consisted of flimsy walls and dirt floor that was 12 to 18 inches below ground. When a cowboy named William Hearne tried to kick the door down, Baca fired two shots through the door, killing Hearne and beginning what became known variously as the Battle of Frisco, the Mexican War or the Baca Cowboy War. Several versions of the story say that some 80 cowboys surrounded the jacal and began firing. Baca withstood the next 36 hours of gunfire by lying prone on the sunken dirt floor and returning fire from crevices between the wooden slabs of the shack. Night came and many wondered if Baca was still alive. By morning the answer came when smoke arose from the house and the smell of breakfast filled the air. Frank Rose, a Socorro County deputy sheriff, agreed to take control of the matter. Rose offered to spare Baca’s life if he agreed to surrender and stand trial for the killing of Hearne. Baca responded, “I am your prisoner, but I will not surrender my guns.” According to the story, thousands of shots had shredded the jacal, but Baca emerged unscathed. Baca kept his promise. In May 1885 he was charged with the death of Hearne and jailed until his trial. In August 1885, a jury found him not guilty. The story of Baca and his amazing aim spread quickly. He became Bernalillo County Sheriff and served until 1888. You are in a Vjo thread Strictly for yours and mines entertainment. (hopefully) I know that's bad grammer. hehe This is the old west remember. these guys really hit the spot This would be the exact opposite of sig whoring lol Basicly I make one good post a day and by next year we have.. I am still trying to get my head around this Apache Trail in Arizona
Apache Trail going into Canyon Lake in Arizona BD Ya know I love the Wild Bill Hickok stuff and to see his death chair. hehe I love it! The death hand he was holding when Jack McCall shot him from behind on Aug 8, 1876 in Deadwood, South Dakota. I know all this by heart from my wild west shows and the Hist Chan. lol Two black Aces, two black 8s, and the seven of diamonds. The dead man's hand. I always thought it was the Queen of hearts but seven of diamonds was the odd card. Learned something. Cant get enough! Post all you want. Great pics! |

The cemetery shot is Custer and his group at Little Big Horn, MT. The next is a view at Arches National Park in UT. The other was taken along side a deserted highway around Four Corners National Monument. I "think" we were in Colorado, but that is really just a guess. The next three were all from Deadwood, SD. The next are Cody, WY, two from Badlands National Park in SD, then of course, Mt Rushmore, SD. I think I need to take the dog for a walk while the rain has let up. Name a state, I will see what I can provide. |

Beautiful shot of Mount Rushmore. One of the places I have visited. Just awesome.
The other I take it is the badlands in Wyoming. Hole in the wall country. You folks in Great Britain can see why the posses had a hard time following the Wild Bunch in that kind of terraine. I do this all for the Brits. Love those guys. In fact Bisping is my fav. LOVE him on the ultimate fighter right now. Lil quick diplomacy lol Hey I aint doing this for nothing. hehe Doesnt hurt to have a country on your side. And I chose GB as my adopted country. I'm kidding! I'm weird sometimes. Only my fellow Yanks understand me, sometimes. But I do like the Brits. And baddog. I love baddog. Hey if you spend 2 1/2 hours on a post you will get weird too. LOL Ok back to pics. The Canooks also understand me totally. hehe |

OK with bd's permission lets get this spelled out for the slow ones like me..
Custer and his group at Little Big Horn Arches National Park in UT Along side a deserted highway around Four Corners National Monument in Colorado really fabulous pics bd The next set was around Deadwood, South Dakota and the next set was in Wyoming. Hole in the wall country and Buffalo Bill Cody country. Ok this is the Badlands in SD You can see why they call it Badlands. Do you have anything from central or north central Wyoming. Hole In The Wall country. I am really into the Hole In The Wall country. In fact if there is one thing I would have wanted to do as a younger man it would be to see how close I could get to the actual hitw that Butch and the boyz were in about 115 years ago, say around 1896 |

I remember back in the late 80's I was in the middle of nowhere Wyoming, riding back from Sturgis, and got caught in a torrential downpour during one of the area's longest droughts. I pulled into a small town to dry off and ended up getting invited to a party the locals were having. I will never forget one guy asking, "what are you doing here?" Well, Wyoming is an interesting state.
It can be very flat and windswept, like at Independence Rock They called it Independence Rock because settlers wanted to be there by July 4 in order to reach their destination before winter set in. People would scratch their info into the granite so their friends would know they made it that far and when. What was funny about the guy's question was that we were only a couple hundred miles from the Grand Tetons. He had never been. Of the states you listed, I have to admit, Utah is my favorite. Zion Bryce Canyon Canyonland (I think) Nevada Valley of Fire Somewhere off I-80 e/o Reno Mesa Verde, Colorado Albuquerque, NM City of Rocks Painted Desert, AZ Meteor City |

I have to do it BEFORE I enjoy the pics else I wont enjoy them as much. I only scanned em so far. Really great clarity is the first thing I noticed. Pretty much HD for sure. |

Baddog you have blown me away. Best post anyone has ever made to one of my threads. I thank you. With captions too! Ok one at a time is how were gonna do it. "I was in the middle of nowhere Wyoming" Dude you were in HITW country. Altho maybe you hadnt gone far enough in. I have to research this HITW so I know what the heck I am talking about. But it is in North Central Wyoming. Perhaps you werent quite far enough west. "They called it Independence Rock because settlers wanted to be there by July 4 in order to reach their destination before winter set in. People would scratch their info into the granite so their friends would know they made it that far and when." That is really interesteing. Never heard of that. Very cool. Luv it. continuing.. |

City of Rocks
very heavy Painted Desert, AZ I have been here. Got out of the AC car and it was def the hottest heat I have ever felt. Raw dry heat. About 120. Dont know if it is worse than Louisiana in the summer but it is a hotter temp for sure. Louisiana is some bad shit tho wow, is this the one that killed off the dinosoars, no that was in the Yucatan Peninsula. But a metor hitting that big would be disasterous. But I take it they just call it metor city but a meteorite never hit there or did it. maybe waaaay back sometime and the meteor pulverized. Maybe not. Is Carl Sagan in the house or universe? Great Pics BD and thanks for letting me review them. My thread, I can do wahtever I want I think Bad choice on Polk Salad. That is def not western music. More like Mississippi It was fun man. Eventually I am gonna post some old western town pics. |

One of the things I enjoy the most about my travels is the geology I run across. I may have to go back to school because I know it would enhance my travels if I was able to readily look at the side of some cliff and know what era was being exposed. I have definitely learned more about volcanoes and how they helped shape this country. That City of Rocks pic was an example of volcanic rock. It is truly amazing when you see how flat it is around there, then all of a sudden you have this cluster of big ass rocks. As far as old west towns: Frontier Village, Jamestown, ND Cody, WY Calico, CA Hannibal, MO |

Good Morning!
Montana morn Welcome lycos Glad you are enjoying all the mullarky or is that mullarkey. (can i have a license to not spell correctly Quote:
GREAT song choice ya know, I knew this song but never really looked into these guys, might be hearing way more.. I have created a new "speed system" for posting vids and pics. "oh great, more old vids" I-net is slow today with Clearwire, windy out (and that is all it takes. LOL So I cant even stream a vid or even a lyrics vid, but should get better as the day goes on. Indian Herbal Concoction (from here on aka IHC lol) plus an enjoyment of the old music (and a love for scenery pics) makes the thread better Plus we still have old west towns coming. Perfect for this time of year. Montana mid morn Yeah the Miss Kitty avy is a bit over the top hehe a bit like everything I do. I am telling ya tho, If this was 1959 and you are James Arness when Amanda Blake was 30. That is some fiiiiine stuf. Timeless. No need to be scared tho. Miss Kitty will be nice. (Whod a thunk it? We all sit here and lust after Miss Kitty all day and night and this guy from the east walks in, this Mister Peabody, walks in the Long Branch.. (NEWLY! Where's that beer for my friend? Dont worry Newly loves it ) walks in and Miss Kitty falls head over heels for him. Festus is sooooooo jealous. "get a rope!" Hey! who said that. Was that fucken Billy Clanton again. Them fucken Clanton brothers. Matt! make sure my friend from the east Mister Peabody gets no guff. Festus, throw Clanton's ass out the window. LOL BASSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! LOL Windows are getting expensive around here Montana |

Yeah the West is full of geogological wonders involving the glaciers and other stuff. Do we have a geologist in the bldg? Excellent pics man. Just what I wanted to see.. wild west towns. So cool. Frontier Village, Jamestown, ND makes ya want to have a pair of cowboy boots on, be kind of narrow at the hip, and broad at the shoulder and walk up that wood sidewalk. look like a lil school house maybe Cody, WY i wonder if they would have went for any of my shilly shally or if Festus would have gave me one of those looks hehe I am really too girlie to live back then, hard life, work all the time, id be all angry all the time, prob die young like Billy the Kid from a life of crime. You KNOW I would have been on a wanted poster.. Vjo (alias Catman) - Wanted Dead or Alive For shooting up the GFY bar one Friday night and killing two bystanders.. believed to be hiding in THITW. Calico, CA Can I admit something here I must admit I am one of guys who find abandoned places or old west buildings extremely erotic. Altho in reality the only one around would be Festus gaurding me LOL Maybe Miss Kitty would bring me meals.. ..one time when Festus was out Miss Kitty made the mistake of entering the cell and BAM I jumped her... LOL very nice western flaver, very nice feeling, takes ya back to the morning of 1867 when you were just a lil whipper snapper, coming out to greet the day and place you grew up in Hannibal, MO That seems to fit Hannibal, MO Aaah Mark Twain, what a cool dude, prob as cool dude as Wild Bill. What a life he had. Great pics man thanks. Feel free to trhow more at us anytime Absolutely fantastic pics. I have to spend some time with ole Charlie around the Chuck Wagon tonight as I'm running low on grub Miss Kitty will run the Long Branch. Yeah I am the cook around here Cooking: beef roast, beans (seasoned 4 bean mix) and about 6LBs of taco beef, lil pasta All the cheap stuff, I mean good stuff Work never ends in the oid west. That Santa Esmeralda was pretty good huh. Love that Mexican type music.. see what I can find.. in the mean time.. lets go to Waylon and Willie and the boyz |

Good Morning! (from northern Nevada)
walk along the river sweet lullaby they just keep on flowing they dont worry about where it's going don't fly mr. bluebird i'm just walking down the road early morning sunshine tell me all i need to know (mandatory listening ) Welcome John and my man CH NEWLY! Beers. You boyz need broads? It's early but I have a few girls around. for John, meet Beth Upstairs, Room 1 CH, meet Barbi Upstairs, Room 2 LOL, I am so "giving" a few ramblings hehe pretty good thread. When I wake up I say no more! LOL I was literally on the computer in this thread for 48 hours plus. I have a life you know! Or do I? LOL Anyhow, then I see some nice comments and I want to build it more. crossroads, things will come and go This thread is not over. Just like the old west (as I said earlier) time moves slow. You all please keep it going. Ya know I am here then. But I got to do other things! I keep wanting to top myself. Even bigger posts. Couple of those posts took 2-3 hours to prepare. I want to be even more unpredictable. Kind of like a sneaky western outlaw. hehe I am pleased. "it is a trip" in order from drug buy.. (Easy Rider 1969) extra treat from Smith Thanks again to baddog. Your pics are right up our alley (or this thread is right up your alley ) and we all love seeing them. Please keep em coming anytime. But alas you also have a life. Old Faithful is a cone geyser located in Wyoming, in Yellowstone National Park I really need to venture west to Wyoming some time. Really cool state. Can I bring Sheena in to sing "do it for love"? It is tradition. Sure I can. My threads are always about 2 things foremost: babes and music. And music-babes are best Thanks man. I do it for you. I.. best version (of course) BTW, I sent Billy Clanton and Billy Claiborne after that wiley, rascally easterner Mister Peabody as I said I would. lol Drag his ass back to the Long Branch. The boyz will be bringing him in alive. from my personal playlist (first dozen songs in order) we started with Blue Skys and then Melissa for my friends.. the road goes on forever i hope today finds you doing fine good stuff maynard Lil treat coming up later.. we are going to a real old western town for some real old western action. Stay tuned. |
