One look at that hole he called a bunker is enough to sound the alarms that this man is unstable. There wasn't sane and rational thinking put into the design of that "bunker." However, based on the article, I would say this guy is far from a gun nut. His "ammo stockpile" would be eaten up by the average gun nut during a single day at the gun range. He had a few guns and a few more gun parts, nothing that suggests he was a gun nut. I know people who consistently drop 5k a week on guns and ammo. However, none of them talk about doomsday shit or stockpile water, fuel, and food. They just like shooting.

For a guy who has spent 8 years building his "fort" he sure didn't have it stocked very well. Besides the fact that he killed his family, the biggest concern I see here is that anybody could have found his bunker and had access to his guns and ammo. What kind of "survivalist" doesn't secure his shit better than this? Dude was clearly a different breed.

Very sad. Sad that he shot his kid and his wife, but also sad that he or any of these other "preppers" live their lives this way, which is in total, complete fear. I tend to think gun nuts are the same. Having a couple of hunting rifles is ok and maybe I could possible understand a single hand gun. But machine guns? Sniper rifles? guns with extended clips? This guy was not a prepper, he was simply nuts. 8 years and that's what he had to show for it? Preppers do what they do to protect their family in case shit hits the fan. They don't kill their own family. Media will play this up and paint all preppers as nutjobs like this guy.
