we put up an ad for graphics guys, get slammed with 70 resumes in an hour, and they just want to work. freelance is drying up. we have the total advantage in terms of picking talent

I've found it much more difficult to find graphics people here in LA than anything.

Mostly, they have print experience, and no web experience, or the web experience they have is just skinning a wordpress site or something.

I do agree on getting slammed though. 99.9% of them we'd never hire though.

correction: GOOD programmers get big money. unfortunately, most talk the talk but are difficult as all get out to deal with when it comes to walking the walk.

I think people greatly undervalue good designers with experience inside of adult... design is like coding in that, there are a million guys that can make a PSD, but how many can make full sites that actually convert, write proper CSS, get the css into templating systems, etc. i worked with non-adult designers that forget to put search boxs and join now buttons.

I'll give $100 to anyone who can send me a programmer I can place. It's truly amazing how many programmer positions I see everywhere, in mainstream as well as adult. I mostly get resumes from people who want to work remotely, and companies are no longer interested in outsourcing. I can't say I blame them either. Way more efficient to have your team in house when you need things accomplished. No time zone issues.

And even the crappy ones, the 90% who have never read a book without "for dummies" in the title, aren't cheap. How many people who think PHP is the answer to most programming problems want $50 / hour or more. If you can't estimate the number of CPU instructions your inner loop requires to within at least an order of magnitude, you're not a programmer. You're just some guy who took a few hours to learn the basics of a templating system called PHP.
