Dual monitors is critical, I could never go back to 1 monitor---ever again.
|
Am I the only guy that plops down on his sofa with his laptop?
I had a devoted office in my last house with two desktops, one running duals. The only use that got is showing it to anybody that wanted a tour of the house. I also had a regular office and it got to the point where I only went for mail. Then I stopped doing that and just had everything sent to my home. Now it's me, my laptop and my sofa and I am happiest. |

You will love having a second monitor. With 2 monitors (or more) you can expand your desktop, move applications between monitors flawlessly, place your tools on one with your work on the other, etc. Here's a couple of suggestions: - Do this on your FASTEST computer. - Use a new, current dual head video card with lots of ram. - Use 2 (or more) identical monitors (same brand, model, size, colour) - Place your monitors side by side with little or no gap between them. You will not be in desktop nirvana. Enjoy! |

Using 2 24" Widescreen monitors powered by a Radeon 6950 2GB video card.

I run a single ultrasharp 30inch at 2560X1600, but I'm going to eventually swap that out.
Eventually I want to do three of these with eyefinity http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg 1920X1080 each at 120hz! :thumbsup |
I cant even afford a single monitor... :(
I have to post by guesswork alone... :( |
I work on my couch lol

17" laptop as main and a 23" or 24" on the left

one screen ? did this question come from 1983 ?

My setup
First pic is my work area for doing anything manually, calculations, etc.
http://img.srchub.net/i/oMJxL.jpg This next pic shows the entire setup and how nice everything is aligned for me to switch from one station to the next seamlessly. I've got everything to succeed here really. http://img.srchub.net/i/mvIca.jpg Most hours are spent working on the 2 display laptop. The laptop is a 1600x900 17.3" display an the external is 27" 1080x1920. I often go blog crazy loading up images and watching netflix in the left screen and doing the heavy work in the right. http://img.srchub.net/i/9nqMI.jpg This last picture shows the small netbook (8.9" screen) which is usually used when downloading or uploading a massive amount of files (low energy consumption). The 27" iMac is joined with a Samsung 27" monitor, needs a new display setup connector as the current one flickers, waiting for new component. I'm very content with this setup. http://img.srchub.net/i/JIHBs.jpg |
This thread is awesome, very motivating actually.
Guess I need to wake up and get another monitor. How does it actually work? Is it better to run 2 pcs or do you just run 1 pc and 2 monitors - and one mouse? |
I've grown accustomed to dual monitors for several years now ... so when I switched to a MacBook Pro this summer, it was only natural that I use my iPad (with Rocketfish iPad stand) as a second monitor via AirDisplay ...
Since the second monitor is run over the wifi network, its not going to do video, but is perfect for Photoshop palettes, organizing my emails, my IMs, and my internet radio stations... |
